Be patient. You aren't going to come and win a world title in 2 weeks. Don't feel entitled to everything like people before you.

If you come to chat or use the forums a bit, don't fall in with the wrong crowd.

Try to get to know everyone in the fed, it might not get you anywhere storyline wise but it would help  make you feel that you are apart of the EAW family.

Don't be an asshole.

This may sound like stupid advice but if you act out of line regularly you're going to end up holding yourself back from getting to where you want to be. You could be one of the best promoers ever but if you have a shitty attitude you won't get far, either by being fired or just generally not feeling welcome because of yourself. If you look at most of the people successful here none of them have over-inflated egos or bad attitudes. If you want to have a good e-career in EAW you've gotta be chill.

Just have fun.  That may sound like stupid advice, but I think it really works.  If you come with the idea to just have fun then you're more likely to not to do the things the other guys have just mentioned.  If you're here to just make friends and have a good time...you're not likely to feel entitled...not likely to be an asshole...you'll actually want to know everyone in the fed...and all that other good stuff

Make your character and gimmick stand out.

edit - I'll go on this further, obviously you need to be a good promoer and shit, that's obvious but if you have an entirely different gimmick to somebody else, you stand out to not only the writers but to everybody else and it's easy to get recognition. It's really boring reading the same gimmicks and booking the same generic heels and faces, that's why when you have a Norman Hellion, a Vic Vendetta or a Lannister ( and I'm aware Ken is in the HOF and was an established promoer before Lannister but for the sake of the argument ) you stand out by tenfold the amount of times you would if you just had a 'BEST IN THE WORLD' gimmick or a 'Ultimate Good-guy'' or whatever.

A lot of great advice above... but I want to elaborate on some points:

You should definitely use your time here in EAW as a fun experience. Nobody is forcing you to come here, so just relax and your experience. Just act cool man, if you want to succeed just relax and don't bitch about every little thing that doesn't go your way. You aren't entitled to anything around here, and if you feel you are, you're only going to find yourself a step behind. Don't EVER compare yourself to somebody else, only worry about your own skin. And by far... don't ever bitch. You keep your mouth shut, even if you disagree. I don't want to throw anybody under the bus, so truly, AA don't take this as an attack because it's not. It doesn't mater how motivated, or skilled you are, if you act up, you don't get the push you deserve, which was AA's case in the past. It's not a matter if you tapped out, if you lost a match you feel you should of won... leave your ego on the side or else you dig yourself a big whole.

Don't ever second-question a writer, because nobody ever likes having their work insulted. It doesn't mean you have to kiss their ass, but well, your time here could be brutal if you make it your life to insult them to death. EAW is the only primetime efed around, so if you act up, there are basically no viable alternatives for you to go to. It's not like if you left Microsoft to where you can go to Sony... no, there's only Microsoft in this scenario. You have no alternative, which means you have no leverage. So you better take what you get, wait for your spotlight, and suck it up. I've seen too many great workers lose everything all because they couldn't leave their ego at the door, even if they were, or could be, a world champion.

I feel diplomacy is a lost art anymore, and that this "don't bitch" method needed to be emphasized. Just have fun, enjoy the cool people everyday that this community provides for, and just enjoy the unique experience. Remember this, take the words to heart, and you should be well on your way to a successful EAW career.

I think there are two ways about going about this, obviously if something happens and you don't like it, you CAN question it but atleast be respectful about it to the writer. You should generally know your character better than anybody but if you just pc the writer and just ask why so and so happened or maybe if a certain adjustment can be done in a respectful way, it'll be done. Bitching to no-end or asking far superior is disrespectful and you'll probably burn all bridges with your writer and like you said, it's typically a kiss of death. It's like WWE really and something Paul Heyman in one of Stone Cold's podcast, if you go to one of the staff and say ''Yeah this thing isn't working, maybe we could try this if you're okay with it?''.  I'll give an example, essentially I gave out advice to somebody regarding their promos and how they could improve and they acted pretty pissy to me for doing so and when later asking why something happened like they were somehow buried despite me explaining why something happened, they decided to remain pissy and like they knew somehow better. That just burns bridges in my eyes or unendessly complaining about things believing you're entitled everything or you somehow always deserve to win, nobody is entitled anything here without earning it, no matter where you've come from or what you've done in other e-feds. It's like all walks of life, there's always different ways to go about things and I'm probably the worst guy to say this because I get bitchy the whole time but as a writer and staff, it happens alot of times and you'll always have a glass ceiling on you depending on your attitude.

Absolutely. My comment was more so towards the bitching your writer out about a loss/decision. I don't care if you have valid claim to believing why you deserve a win, if you bitch the staff out, it's not going to end well. You can speak your disdain towards a certain aspect or wanting an explanation, that's fine, but holding grudges and feeling entitled is not the way to go about anything.

Oh, I agree. Not everybody can win all the time and honestly, I don't see the big deal about losing aslong as you don't get buried and even then, the only time you'll ever be buried is if you don't promo. People have it in their heads that if you don't win then you don't 'look good' and 'got buried' which is stupid and usually wrong on every level. I can understand people being upset about losing big matches and I've been there myself but un-endlessly bitching about it won't change the result and you're going to get a rep for not being able to take a loss and like I said in the last post, you only put yourself into a position where you have a glass ceiling above your head and likely won't get out of mid-card no mater how good a promoer you are or think you are.

Respect the veterans/legends. If you're a newcomer and you're not giving respect to guys like Jay, DDD, Robbie, Ken, etc; you're gonna have a hard time. I've seen plenty of guys come in and act like they've been around for years from day one. That shit doesn't fly. It makes your time in EAW markedly easier if you're willing to take advice and set aside your stubbornness. If not, chances are you won't last because of your inability to adapt.

If you come on chats don't get on everybodys nerves and have a rotten attitude, I personally believe AA/Venom could have gone further today if they weren't hated by most people, and make sure you stand out. Use something special and just be respectful to those in authority... Kissing ass can be bad to people who are jealous of you, but if you trust your writer and those above you and respect em', it'll make it a lot easier for you to advance. Also, take advice and ask of advice from veterans if you're struggling or confused on a certain thing, of course I am a joke in EAW but during my high peaks of UTTC and IB run, I was always on Banks, Impacts, Jaywalker, and Mr. DEDEDE's dicks on how to be better. Lastly, just have fun and don't get to the point where EAW feels like a job, because that's when you get unmotivated and it becomes no fun.

luv u all bb's and Ken/Demon, great paragraphs and I agree 120%.

Don't change your opinion on someone because someone else doesn't like them. To get on everyone's radar, you have to promo, but also be a unique personality. This is something that I had trouble with early on in my career, but I would like to think my gimmick is more than sufficient now.

10 percent of your problems with people are because of what you said and 90 percent are because of how you said it.
