| Hey guys,
I am a school teacher who specialises in extending kids writing. In that respect, I thought I would set up a little grammar corner to assist people with taking writing to the next level. I will be paroozing the promos (mainly from Dynasty, as that is the show I am on) and finding things that bug me as a teacher, then posting some pointers and tips in here.
Please note that I will not be making any of this personal. While I may find these pointers from reading promos on the site, I will not be referencing peoples' work, nor will I be putting anybody down. I am here to help, lend some advice wherever able.
If anybody has questions about what I am posting, please post them here or send me a PM. If you have suggestions as to some things that you think I could cover, also suggest these in this thread.
Thanks Mr. Hayden |

| Do not "help" where you are not asked to. |

| I'm not going to lock this thread or say you aren't allowed to do this, but I'd highly recommend not to as I can pretty much guarantee that you'll be making a lot of enemies if you pick out random promos and talk about their grammar, just looking out for you. But you can proceed if you desire. |

| You may want to listen to Jaywalker.
This is a pretty crap idea to be honest, especially since there is a promo critique thread ALREADY SET UP ON THE SITE FOR THIS AND OTHER ISSUES. |

| Fair enough - I won't go ahead with it. Nothing here is intended to be negative at all. Apologies if this rubbed anybody the wrong way, I saw the promo critique thread more as a specific assistance thread, where this would have been more generic pointers.
I would also never pick out individual promos and point out their issues, that is not what I was intending this thread for at all. |

| As someone who has this problem I feel I should chime in on this, I do understand that some people find the grammar thing irritating but the problem is it also gives a sense of superiority from the person giving said "feedback." Also as the whole point of this is that the RP's are described situations where someone is talking Grammar should not really be taken into account as spoken sentences don't tend to have full stops when someone goes on a full tirade. It would be different if it made the RP's unreadable but that level of bad grammar would pretty much be reserved for a chicken pecking a keyboard. Most of the people who have this issue have dealt with it for a long time and know they have it so it will upset people to be reminded of it especially if its just out of the blue
I get where your coming from especially as a teacher its your job to help people better themselves and that is an honourable vocation but its the kind of help that needs to be asked for |

| Fair point. In that respect, if people would like any assistance for themselves personally, I am happy to lend a hand. Just PM me if anybody wants anything. I will wait to be asked Edit: I do think people may have the wrong idea about what I was going for here though. I was thinking of generic help (e.g. what is an ellipsis? how do I use a semi-colon) rather than picking apart peoples' work. I want to make sure people know that I would never use somebody's actual work and point out any "issues" in it, especially not when it is not asked for. That was never the intention of this thread.

| As someone who does get annoyed by bad grammar and can often be a tad pedantic about it, I can see why you would want to do this, but as others have said, it is definitely in your best interest not to do so. I mean, I know my grammar itself isn't perfect either, but I think it's just a general thing in life that a lot of people don't like to be called out on it or even helped with it unless they actually ask. |
