For anyone not already aware, Shinichiro Watanabe (Director of Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Terror in Resonance) is going to be making an anime short of the Blade Runner series, which will chronicle what happens between the original movie and the sequel coming out next month, Blade Runner 2049. Personally, I couldn't be more excited about this because Watanabe is a fantastic Director and the Blade Runner series itself is fantastic with the original being one of the most groundbreaking films ever.

I can't wait to see Watanabe return to something somewhat akin to Cowboy Bebop, as well as seeing more of the World built in the Blade Runner series. For anyone curious about Blade Runner, I highly recommend checking out the original, and hopefully the upcoming sequel will be just as phenomenal (Directed by the Director of Arrival and starring Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Jared Leto). Hopefully the short has the potential becomes a full-on series, and it may not, but I'm primarily just posting this because I love the Blade Runner series.

This is actually a really interesting combination. I mean, if anyone can pull off an animated version of this classic film, it's Watanabe.
I'm personally glad he's back in the game.
