| What is something you do each time before you promo to get ready? Or do you just get into promoing right off?
Personally, I find that if I wait a day or two, I think up most of my promo and jot down a few things then when I start writing it, it flows better. At least that's how it been since I rejoined.
Before, I would turn on some inspirational soundtrack video on Youtube and just start promoing, whether it was forced or not.
I've noticed that if I'm out driving or come back and watch or show, something in whatever I'm doing ends up in a promo and it motivates me because usually I'll base the promo off of whatever that may be.
If anyone's noticed, most of my promos start with a definition then a more in depth discussion about that definition throughout. It usually tells a story just in that one paragraph.
I don't know, that's just how I am, though?
So how do you start promoing? |

| If I was going off against someone, I'd probably do some research on his background in his signup and his promos including the ones directed at me first. Then I'll pick and choose points that said opponent stressed on that I see myself capable of debating and maybe even proving wrong. Afterwards, I'll prolly blast some Eminem and get on slayin

| Usually after I marinate my opponents response I just play around with the first word I'm gonna say so I know how to set the tone, but sometimes ill meditate. Not in some deep crazy way, just if Im having trouble clearing my head from other shit going on in my life and if Im having trouble snapping to character. |

| Pornhub. Seamless. Promo. Profit.
lol jk. I usually think about various lines I've heard in my head and what other things I want to add to my character's storyline. I also do a bit of research on my opponent as well. |

| What do I do to promo. Well with everything I try to do, I try to map it out a head of time. When creating a character, I develop a path I want to take the character down and leave openings for variations of the course ahead. So first I would definitely have to say I would start by picking apart what I have written over the past couple shows. See what did and didn’t work for the character and improve what did work and either improve what didn’t work or remove it completely in the future. Secondly, I would proceed to see how my character acted throughout the results, whether its dissecting the segments I send in, or seeing other’s handlings of my character/seeing how my character was wrote in the match. All of those take into effect how I proceed forward with my character (I tend to like to have the same person writing my character in matches, so that it is more consistent and develops long term possibilities for the character if that makes sense). From there, I take a look at who I am facing. Look up as much as I can and take qualities from those people that will have some kind of effect in how I write the upcoming promo. It won’t affect what or how I say something, but let’s say the environment of where the character is, the tone of the promo, that sort of thing. Then, once I have all of that done, I crank on some music and start typing away in Microsoft Word. Once I have typed 2-3 pages up, I’ll open up a second word document and place them side by side and start looking at what I have, and see how I can change it. I love details, so I will start rewriting what I have, and give it more depth, and do my best to paint a vibrant picture for everybody reading to enjoy. Once I’m happy with what I already typed up, I will either continue on, or take a break for a bit and come back to it once I have cleared my head a bit, and allowed what I wrote to sink in, and settle through the dust. I continue that process normally until I can honestly say I am happy with what I have written. Sometimes I won’t have the time to fulfill my complete process, and will on occasion post something I deeply hate, and won’t even acknowledge in the next part of the characters story, because I just detest it so much. Any ways I think I have rambled on enough and feel it is time to allow somebody else to contribute to this topic. Ty |

| I wait a couple of days after my opponent promos and I read their promo entirely a couple of times. During the day or two before I promo, I will start thinking of some things to say in response to what they said about me and I will usually write it down so I don't forget it; especially if it's something really good. |

| Something usually sparks my mind, like a song or a movie or something, or even something as mundane as something a friend said or a bit of dialogue that popped into my head out of parts unknown. This usually doesn't lead to me rushing to a keyboard and typing things down, but it's the beginning cogs building the mechanism in my head. I don't know why, but lately it seems like most of my promos come in the morning. It's probably a mixture of me being an early bird and having little spare time elsewhere in my pretty lax but demanding life. I read what the opponent writes if they write first, let my brain fiddle with the words until I can write a promo off of something they've said to make them eat their words. This thinking usually goes on during me taking my meds, feeding the cat and dog, evacuating whatever needs evacuating, and then just dicking around the internet aimlessly while mostly thinking about the promo as I check e-mail, facebook, etc, until I feel like I'm ready to put words on the screen.
I sometimes pace, also. I pace and let the character spew whatever it wants to spew in my brain. This is usually more workshop than actual preparation for promos, but it's always fun and something I never consciously end up doing. It just happens. I might need pills. |

| I usually watch some promos from my favorites to see what kind of rhythms they hit, then I try and emulate that. Ill also just kind of sit and think about if someone said that in real life, what I would say in return. That method usually makes me forget this is fun and be like "he called me a Bitch!" No, he called your CHARACTER a bitch. Don't be a bitch.
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. |

| I do very little to prepare. If I go first out of everybody in my match, I think of an angle I want to push - how am I going to sell this match as a must-watch? Even if I don't go first, I pretty much do the same thing, as well as reading my opponent's promo. The stuff I draw upon is usually available in my mind, because I know my character's latest results and I've written about his history in depth on my Webs site.
Not preparing much ends up being a mixed bag, as my worst promos either don't have much substance or don't flow well. But, preparing very little is a big time-saver. |

| Depends on who I'm facing, and who gets the first promo. If it's someone I've faced or have been interested in and I try to get the first promo up, I just listen to music and get working. But if it's someone new or i haven't face I go look at their matches their promos from the previous week to get a feel for what they might say. And then I just bullshit a promo hoping i hit points I didn't know i had. |

| Usually it's trying to think up some good lines/comebacks, figuring out how I want to word them, and then it's coming up with a scene where everything will take place. Then I'll try and give myself a word count goal. |

| I'll reenact my promo out loud in order to make sure it sounds organic and plausible. Although, I do this alone because if someone heard me delivering a promo, I'm sure I would sound like a fucking maniac. |
