The former; there's more to life for me than finding true love and having a lot of friends and having money I'd be able to do anything I want.

I care very much about my peace of mind. I think if I were rich and had no friends or love, it'd all feel kind of hollow. At the same time, if your happiness is always dependent on someone else's approval of you, you're never going to be happy for very long. That is a fleeting happiness. Friendship is different, though. Obviously, never having been rich, I can't say with 100% certainty that it wouldn't compensate for the lack of those things, but I think I have far more potential to be a productive person and much higher overall positive output if I feel like I've been embraced.

The former. Seems selfish but I care more about myself than I care about others and I'd much, much rather be selfish than care about what others think about me.
