Hey guys, here is my promo for my match this week.  Can you give some feedback on it.  Like what I can improve, how I can do better, or if I've done anything good.  I am asking because I am on a bit if a losing streak and could use some help thanks.

Voltage Promo.

So I have lost again, seems to be a recurring thing huh?  Well some people might take that many losses as a bad thing.  But....I am the kind of wrestler who learns from his mistakes.  If I lose I look back on the match and see what I could have done differently, where I messed up, and how I can change it.

My opponent this week is Finnegan Wakefield.  A man who I have faced once before, in my first match, a tag team match.  This time it will be different Finnegan.  I respect you.  You are one heck of a techicinan in that ring and that cannot be overlooked.  Now I am mostly known for hardcore wrestling, but that's not what I'm all about.  I have travelled the world and learned many different styles, which make me the wrestler I am today.  I can go technical with anybody.  If you want to go the submission route I can match you there.

But you have only seen some of what I have to offer here in EAW.  This dude has a few tricks up his sleeve that you have never seen before.  Come Voltage Wakefield, I look forward to your challenge and I will beat you. I will win.

My focus is more than it has ever been before.  Losing is not an option this time.  I am in it to win it.  And all I need is that one win to get the ball rolling.  And by beating you Finnegan, my stock will rise.

My back is against the wall now.  I am like a cornered animal.  I have nothing to lose but everything to gain.  So like an animal I will come out with everything I've got to defeat you.  I can go toe to toe with the best of them, and Finnegan you are one of the best.

Come Voltage people are going to be surprised at this match.  We are going to tear the roof off this place.  And when it's all said and done, when you are looking up at the lights and see my hand raised in victory you will know how good I am.

Well the thing I noticed most, is that you don't show enough willingness to really attack your opponent, flaws and such, which is the best way in my opinion to get them to make a mistake somewhere. You need to show more tenacity, not mentioning how you lost your matches, but instead mention how much hungrier each match is making you to achieve the results you wish to. Just hang in there dude. Keep learning, and read more into your opponents and what makes them tick. Good luck!

Hey man. I read up on a few of your previous promos before our match a few weeks back. Here's some feedback.

You start your promo by having Shaker say he's learning from each of his losses. That's great character development, but you could definitely expand further on that. Don't be afraid to give your character some emotions. For example, when you say "Well some people might take that many losses as a bad thing." try to give some counters to that argument. You could always ask yourself questions if you're struggling with counterarguments. How does Shaker feel after losing? How will it impact the rest of his promo? What is his motive to succeed in EAW? Instead of repeating week after week that he'll learn from his mistakes, give your character a bit of substance.

When addressing an opponent, you can go beyond their in-ring skills and trash talk anything about their character, at least that's how I approach it. I recall our match, how you said you'd match Harvey's hardcore abilities and pick up the win. Personally, I would've gone ahead and try to take down Harvey's ego, or how he's nothing but a sick soul that needs saving. But that's just an example. It's always good to do a bit of research on an opponent, you get to find their weaknesses and find a way to make your promo more effective.

As for the ending portion, everything seems to be in order. I like how you touched on Shaker's feelings going into the match. The figurative language was a good addition too, though I would've liked to see more of that throughout the promo itself. I think that you could definitely add some more insults here and there - just because your character is a face, doesn't mean he has to be on good terms with everyone on the roster. Try to tailor your insults to match your opponent as well. The "I'm the best/you're the best" argument has pretty overdone around here/in other feds in general. I think that the more you zero-in on an opponent, the longer your promos become. Not saying that quality is better than quality here, but we've got a lot of talented writers on here that do about 3/4 pages on a promo on average.

Anyways, that was just my thoughts on your work. If I came off as overly-critical, I apologize - I only want to help you become a more effective promo writer. Overall, I do like this character, especially due to his hardcore upbringings. It'd be neat if you could unleash some of that in your work as well. I know you have years of experience in this hobby, so don't be afraid to try out new things.

when i read your promo, it comes off as you just filling in blanks. it's like you're following a template. it's cookie cutter.

"My opponent this week is Finnegan Wakefield.  A man who I have faced once before, in my first match, a tag team match.

Come Voltage people are going to be surprised at this match.  We are going to tear the roof off this place.  And when it's all said and done, when you are looking up at the lights and see my hand raised in victory you will know how good I am."

you seem to be stating really obvious facts, but we need some more excitement. stating facts is cool, but controversy is the coolest. spark controversy. the colours i see from your promo are grey, but you need to incorporate more purple, green and red.

if you need any more advice you can message someone like DDD on the chat who is, in my opinion, the best promoer ever. he'll be willing to help.

you can be as great as you want to be. it's all about discipline. good luck.
