| Nas instructed me to make this as a way to show the weird things that I have ingested but I think it'll be interesting to see what others have eaten and their take on it. So here goes.
1. Live Octopus. Was pretty terrifying, mostly due to the fact that the thing is still moving and has suckers still so I could feel it try to crawl up my throat. Ugh. 2/10
2. Fried Spider. Spider is...spider? It tastes like nothing unless you have sauce, and the sauce was basically thousand island dressing so meh. 4/10
3. Snake. Vietnamese food tends to use everything so when I say I have eaten snake, I mean I have eaten the whole bit of a snake. So I mean, the guts, the heart, the lungs, the liver, the skeleton (fried, packed with calcium) all of have differing tastes. 6/10
4. Naked Mole Rat. Tastes like...weird chicken? Seriously, any meat tastes like chicken when it isn't beef or pork. Naked Mole Rat is just more so. Like if you mixed Chicken with day old beef than yeah. Pretty good. 7/10
5. Casu Marzu. Has a better name, as this translates to Rotten Cheese. This is basically cheese that has a nice creamy texture with it. This is because Casu Marzu gets its texture from maggots which feast on the cheese, then shit it out. You eat the cheese on a cracker or a piece of bread, and hopefully get some maggots with it. 10/10. Seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten.
6. A grub. During a mission trip to Botswana I was given the rare delight of trying Grub among other things. This beetle lives in the bark of a tree, and gives birth to its young which grow plump, fat, and white. You can do what I did, and just pop them whole into your mouth and chew, or split them in half and eat. They taste like store bought milk honestly, really sweet. 8/10.
7. Baboon. Same trip, another night. Baboon brain specifically. Tasted like Cow Brain if you've ever had it, and if you haven't just think of steak but super jello like in texture. 5/10. Not for everyone.
8. And finally, Long Pig, or more accurately Human. This was a jerky form of it and tasted like day old bacon with chicken sprinkled on it. Not the best but not the worst either. 7/10. Would maybe try again but not an every day thing.
So, what are your guy's weird foods? |

| My wierdest food is definitely Balut. It's an egg with a 17-20 days chicken embryo inside the shell and you just gulp that thing to eat it. I got this whem my Vietnamese friend comes by and make it. It surprisingly tasted good but it looked gross as hell. |

| Shark curry, I had it when I went on holiday to Portugal a few years ago. It was Mako shark and was surprisingly good |

| My uncle made me eat octopus when I was 6. I hated it, but finished the whole thing. |

Sadly, this is mine. I still get sick thinking back to it. |

| Nothing as interesting as anything listed above.
The least tame is probably a tie between alligator and tripe. I tried tripe before realizing what it was and wasn't impressed with it, and even if I'd know it was the lining of a sheep's stomach before consuming it I probably wouldn't have thought less of it. It was just bland and had a horrible porous texture. It was also a bit tough too.
Alligator was OK. A bit chewy, but tasted fine.
I've had octopus and eel, not raw mind you, but I don't think sushi is all that impressive in this day and age.
Deer vinson is good. It's not weird, but it's something most people don't eat. It's pretty much gamier beef and makes a good stew and an OK jerky.
Fried chicken livers are another thing that I think's mostly relegated to the south. They're kind of an acquired taste down here, but I do like them.
Another weird thing is that my stepmom is part Lumbee, and I think it's a thing in their culture to put eggs in everything. I think the weirdest thing she's made that really doesn't need eggs is potatoes, both mashed and stewed. The taste isn't much different besides a sulfurey smell but it struck me as an odd practice.
That's the end of my tame list. It's no 'human flesh', but I think it's a little off-kilter. |

| Just what PB said, my "weird" foods are not as interesting as all above either.
A very mini steak. Yes, I still got french fries, vegetables, sausage, carrot, peas, etc. But the size of steak was very small. All I needed was one bite and that's it. It wasn't expensive but still -_-
Almost forgot, I have eaten baby octopus as well. It's good though. |
