Something that I actually had to think about for a little while and I'm still not sure on an answer but what do you think? Are we born violent or is that something that we pick up as we get older?

No. How can you be born violent? It is the environment that you are surrounded by whilst growing up that makes you violent. Now this doesn't necessarily mean that if you grow up in nice suburbs, you aren't likely to become violent as that too happens but I feel that it's something we pick up among ourselves as we grow older with the people or things we grow up with.

  I see your point but there are plenty of people who live with happy families, hang arond the right people yet are still excessively violent towards others. There are people with anger disorders which I understand but there have been plenty of cases where nothing is wrong with the person other than the violence. Kids hit each other all the time and have to be taught specifically not do so. Is it still purely because of the environment they grew up in that they're violent towards others? Not saying I disagree, just playing devil's advocate here.

The way you worded this 'born violent' only gives me one choice. You are a little child. You are not born to a specific religion unless imposed on you and there's a lot of other stuff that's brought upon you by your parents or other people. Aside from anger disorders as you stated, there are plenty of reasons why a kid or child might resort to violence because he is not able to display his feelings any other way. Environment is definitely a huge factor in fusing that violence because I think that the idea of violence really comes to us as we grow older. Older doesn't necessarily mean teenage years, can even be 8 or 9 but there is in most cases a reason. Well some kids might just be psychopath but that's not really ordinary.

Everyone was born different, so theres no general answer to this question. However i will say this, if an early form of human (homosapien/homoerectus) were to confront you, it probably would kill you. So maybe?
