I'll say Chris Jericho, I've always been a fan but you can see the contrast in WWE Jericho and the Jericho that was doing his alpha vs omega story with Kenny Omega. He's always been able to adapt and keep himself fresh and I just realized why he can very well be the greatest of all time with his ability to still perform at a high level so I'll say Chris Jericho right now.

Cody Rhodes for a "newer" guy. I love the cocky heel suit-wearing bastard that's also defending his family's name. Brandi is a good addition too. The blonde makes it even better because he looks like a classic villain.

Been a fan of Pete Dunne's gimmick for a good while now. I feel like he's a complete package for a "newer" heel: he's got the look, the moveset, and the attitude. Though, if he ever works for WWE full time, he should just stick with the whole Bruiserweight character (or anything else really). I know in the indies he's been doing some sort of mock Triple H/DX gimmick with the rest of British Strong Style, and honestly, I'm not a fan of seeing newer talents getting over with gimmicks that worked well in the past.

Another character I'm enjoying is Jinny. She does an excellent job staying in character even outside of wrestling, and that's pretty damn impressive. I feel like she's the perfect villain no matter who she's up against. Really liked her dynamic going into her match against Dahlia Black a while ago. Looking forward to when she becomes PROGRESS Women's Champion.

Velveteen Dream. He looks really enjoying this outlandish gimmick and even at the first time people look at this gimmick as a joke, he played the role real perfectly and he makes them starting to understand about it and changing their perception. Now look at him now, he got a lot of praises here and there.

Shinsuke Nakamura for his wonderful usage of the English language and bringing awareness to the astounding Japanese culture.

Tetsuya Naito.  I like it because I enjoy his progression into the malcontent mindset.  New Japan tried to make him a Tanahashi clone and the crowd saw right through it and Jason Todd'ed him out of the Wrestle Kingdom main event.  He left and came back with zero fucks, essentially choosing a different culture than the one that bastardized him, and it made the fans like him by essentially disowning them and New Japan.  It's like the best bits of Stone Cold and The Rock rolled into one completely unique character.

Da Big Dawg

Dalton Castle has absolutely blown me away with his commitment to his character and I was so happy to learn he won the ROH world title, because it had felt to me like a character like that, people wouldn't take that seriously, but my god, this guys promo work is amazing in mainly the facial execution when he delivers his lines. Like I can't really imagine anyone pulling off his gimmick as well as he does. He's hilarious, he's meticulous, and he's talented in the ring to boot.  

In New Japan, it really is Tetsuya Naito for exactly the reasons Pizza Boy said.

In WWE, it's Jericho and Nakamura. Jericho still keeps himself fresh and Nakamura, the way he moves and that energy, I really don't care about how well he can speak, I just want to watch.

Naw seriously for me though its Miz. He's the best thing WWE jas right now after AJ Styles.

Easily Braun, no one else even comes close character wise atm.

Kento Miyahara. It's a story of guy who's on a mission to make his promotion great again, he's become the unlikely hero for AJPW as it's Ace. He's overcome challenges like former Aces trying to take his spot, Legends wanting to revive their careers and freelancers just wanting more gold around their waist. 

What makes Miyahara such an amazing Ace is able to connect with fans WAY better then other Puro Aces like Okada and YAMATO.

Chris Jericho. He managed to transcend promotions by doing New Japan shows while still associated with WWE. He's always finding new ways to reinvent himself to stay fresh. 

Braun is the best WWE star atm. He's everything Vince ever wanted in a WWE Superstar.

Okada has and will always remain NJPW's best character. He is the heir to 40 years worth of history and exudes a regal presence wherever he goes. Naito is huge, but only because he's an underdog. What happens when he is presented as the best in the company? Will his LIJ fans stick around? Only time will tell.

I'll give ya a top 5: 

5. Tomohiro Ishii. He doesn't really have a gimmick per se, but with Shibata gone he's one of the last really hard hitting strong-style guys left. Little underdog but can be kind of a prick and carry himself like a badass if needed.

4. Asuka- An eccentric, charismatic weirdo who can also beat the shit out of you if you look at her funny. 

3. Braun Strowman- Just watch last week's Raw segment with Elias. He's a big tough serious dude who also has a sense of humor. He's a monster but has just enough comic relief and personality to make him whole. 

2. Tetsuya Naito/Kazuchika Okada- Tie because I like em both. Okada is basically the new Ace, Naito is the somewhat lazy, bored genius trying to keep pace with the prodigy. Both of them put on fantastic matches and have a way of making the audience gravitate towards them.

1. Minoru Suzuki- Angry, crazy old man who even at the age of 49 is a threat to any title he sets his eyes on. Runs a gang mixed with annoying japanese guys and big angry gaijin. Laughs at your chops. Is a total dick to young lions. Once referred to former IWGP Champion Yuji Nagata as the "Blue Justice Dork". What's not to like?

Minoru Suzuki. Grumpy old man is the best gimmick of all time.

I'd go with The Usos personally and I'm glad that I can answer a question like this with a tag team. The WWE tag team division has been dry for so long but thanks to The New Day and The Usos, the tag team division is the highlight of some shows.

To me, The Usos transformation was a masterpiece. With the new SmackDown Live, The Usos took advantage of the situation perfectly. Finally, The Usos were no longer colorful Samoans throwing themselves everywhere and actually became methodical performers. From the original paranoia promo to their promo against The New Day just yesterday, The Usos have done wonders on the microphone and have continuously developed their characters to the point where they've become the main reason why I watch SmackDown Live.

It's been incredible to see a pair that was seen as another bland WWE talent for so long transform into one of the hottest tag teams in the world and in my opinion, WWE's best characters at the moment.
