WHO ARE YOU?: A highly complex and deeply disturbed individual, Vexx Monroe is no stranger to trouble. As a six year old she shaved off her hair and tried to feed it to her dog. A docile, old Boerboel named Petey. When the dog refused, she turned the dog's lead into a noose and attempted to persuade him.
Almost always at odds with her stepfather Thabo for being white, she became one of the youngest girls in South Africa to be admitted to Valkenberg Hospital, a government funded, tertiary psychiatric hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. She was just twelve years old. While inside the facility she passed the time by performing various acts of self-mutiliation. Initially, she was to stay at Valkenberg for a year, but her term was lengthened to four-years after a string of vicious attacks on patients, visitors and staff. Most notably an attack on a pregnant mother who was visiting her husband, which left both mother and baby in intensive care.
The father later hanged himself after learning that his baby had suffered severe and irreversable brain damage. The baby was ultimately put up for adoption as it all became too much for the mother. She is now a patient at Valkenberg.
When she was released at the age of sixteen, she headed to Europe. Eventually, she ended up in Praha (Prague), Czech Republic. Originally hired as a waitress, it wasn't long before her boss, Artem encouraged her to move up the corporate ladder. A Russian car salesman, Artem left Mother Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. He had big plans for Monroe. His plans, however, never came to fruition as his club was mysteriously burned down with him still inside. Monroe, inevitably, was hauled in and quizzed by the local Czech Police, but with a distinct lack of evidence and time running out for a conviction they were forced to let her go.
A little over a month later, she received news that her stepfather had been taken seriously ill back home in South Africa. Not one to miss an opportunity, she headed home. On arrival she was told that Thabo had bone marrow cancer and that he'd do well to survive more than a few months. Her plan was to make him suffer in his last few days for all the heartache and pain he had caused her growing up. She had planned to kidnap him and take him somewhere remote, but upon seeing his deteriorating condition she abandoned it. He was weak, pathetic. His sudden vulnerability made her feel empowered and she felt a rush of adrenaline like never before.
Thabo had mocked her and her siblings. He'd made their life hell because of their skin color. Monroe's mother, Shareen was white and her biological father, Tsepo was black. Apartheid tore loved ones apart. Thabo, her stepfather, was also black and he despised Shareen's white children and at every turn he terrorized them.
After his death, Monroe discovered a note in Thabo's belongings addressed to her. In it he divulged the most hideous things. He had sexually assaulted her sister and forced her brother, Tresor to commit suicide. It was long believed that Tresor had taken his own life because of the pressures of Army life. However, the sickener came when he informed Monroe of her mother's knowledge of the beatings her kids had suffered. 'She knew. She knew all about it. Better yet, she approved.'
Armed with this information, Monroe was determined to get answers. She was an innocent little girl when Thabo had taken over her father's role in the family. When he had abused the power that a parent possessed. Her mother denied the allegations until she was presented with Thabo's note. She broke down in tears and Monroe's world fell apart. It was then that she lost control again. The red mist. The white hot pain in her chest. The pulsating temples. For the first time in her life she struck her mother. Then she struck her again. And again. She continued to lash out until her mother lost consciousness.
6 months later Monroe found herself in Canada. Her sister was now a prominent name in the professional wrestling business and was enthusiastic enough about it, that Monroe decided to see what all the fuss was about. It was agreed that she would train in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with an illustrious family who had a history of success in the business. She was told that it would be a way to channel her anger. A way for her to overcome some of her demons.
Monroe wasn't interested in any of that...she just wanted to hurt people.
