| †T O I L D H È - G O D ‘ S W I L L††Biography†
Born and raised in a Catholic orphanage, Danny Stone had a troubled life. Rebellious from an early age, he sought to fight against the rules, the very nature of the Catholic church. He despised the teachings of the bible although sought interest in the school’s teaching of Latin and Scottish Gaelic. Regular attempts to escape the orphanage from the age of thirteen resulted proved futile with police sending him back. Life to Danny was considered to be hell and he made every effort possible to make the life of the nuns and the headmaster equal to the torment he felt like he was suffering. His name grew in notoriety. However, at fifteen he successfully left the compound and avoided police and soon, Danny Stone became nearly a legend to the kids who dreamed of leaving; the one who got away, who defied. Sleeping rough, stealing scraps from tables, from bins behind restaurants and pickpocketing as often as he could, Stone survived for several weeks on the streets. He managed to collect enough coins for a train ride from Edinburgh to Glasgow however his fortunes did not change. As he bit into the harsh bullet of reality, he was helped off the streets by priest of St. Anne. In the corners of the church, he was given a warm place to rest. However, any lesson learnt on the streets was washed away once he felt as if he was under the thumb of the Catholic faith. The priest merely asked him to help take care of the church, prepare for Sunday service and other events held on the grounds. For a year, Stone swallowed his pride and assisted around the church and slowly but surely warmed to the bible. At seventeen he undertook an apprenticeship as a chef and started to get his life together; his lowly corner had become a bedroom and the priest had become a father figure. He walked out of St. Anne a different man than the beggar who walked in.
As he began life on his own once again, he fell into a familiar crowd; former friends of the orphanage had all made their way to Glasgow. While originally keeping his distance, Stone struggled to ignore those who he grew up with. Drinking most nights, Stone lost his apprenticeship, he lost the roof over his head and was forced to sleep on a dirty, rotten couch in the home of his new friends. His life spiraled once again. While he managed to get some order, his life was truly a mess; he worked days as a cleaner and nights drunk, often resulting in brawls. On a cold winter night, a violent brawl broke out between Danny and one of his old friends landed him in gaol. The dated cell was a bitter truth of how fucked his life was and thus he turned to the positive he had in his entire life; the Catholic faith. “Repressed” once, no more he felt as he fell to his knees and prayed for an answer. He begged God for forgiveness, he begged for mercy, he begged for one more opportunity; he swore on his life to the point of tears.
And it came. It was once again the priest of St. Anne that picked him back up. With only the clothes on his back, Danny Stone committed his promises as much as he could. He became devoted to the faith and once again begun his life anew; he became a chef and opened his own restaurant. However, the gang he left behind would not leave. Often he found himself in bare knuckle brawls with one or several members and retaliation was often damage to his business. More and more men, paid by his former friends came after Stone yet each were beaten within an inch of their lives. Stone hid this from the priest the best he could every Sunday but the priest saw beyond the poor attempts to cover up the bruises. He believed it was aggression, born from the hated of the faith as a kid that caused Stone’s problems and pointed Stone in the direction of a fight club below an old building in the city. It was here Stone found a love for brawling. He fought. He fought nearly every weekend and found peace in his life; a balance between the yin and yang in his life. On his twenty fourth birthday, his business was torched to the ground and no amount of fighting could erase the frustration, the bitterness however, he did not dare to turn his back on the faith that gave him direction and never entertained the thought of giving up. He packed up his belongings, said goodbye to the church of St. Anne and the priest and moved into the Scottish Highlands. It was in quiet town of Inverness that he found life nearly perfect.
By day he ran a successful, local pub. By night he taped his fists and brawled. By Sunday he served as deacon.
Years passed and Stone found discontempt in his life. He handed the reigns of his business to a friend, said goodbye to the church and at twenty eight sold the majority of his possessions to travel the world fighting while still calling the highland town his home. Fighting turned to professional wrestling and despite his hesitation at first, a number of months blending his fighting nature with the British style he saw a life he could only dream of having as a child. To this day, he considers it the work of God to land him back in the Edinburgh orphanage not as an orphan, but a hero to many forgotten kids. To them, the one who had defied God had become Toil Dhè...God’s Will…
