Cogs

Dogs. They're more personable and understand your feelings better, in my opinion. Cats are great and cute too, though.

Dogs. I have an allergy to cats.

Cats, they're safer and more independent.

Cats, because I don't have to take them outside to shit every five seconds, and I don't have to put up with loud barking every time someone comes to the door. I also don't have to take them on walks constantly. People who say cats never cuddle up with you have clearly never had a cat.

I have both, but probably cats simply because they're more low-maintenance and about the same level of antisocial as I am.  I love my dog, and my dog loves me.  My dog loves everybody, and most love my dog, but I hate scratching her stank ass belly, and I hate having to bathe and groom her when I know she's just going to fight me the whole way, only to go roll in some shit when I'm done.

I've adopted my brother's cat, and it's a little feral asshole that attacks everything, and everyone hates, but outside of the occasional 5 o'clock urge for attention that sees her clawing at and headbutting both sides of my door in frustration to get in and/or out of my room, and her unnatural addiction to beef jerky, she pretty much does her own thing most of the time, and I'm cool with that.

I have both, and I love both for different reasons. But in the end, I think I prefer Cats for their cuddleness and independence
