| The Details (2011): 7/10.
Some people consider this as one of the worst Tobey Maguire's movies. I don't know if I could say that because I'm not sure if I like or hate this movie to be honest. Despite I already watched this movie a few years ago, I seldom to watch this movie. I'll go for the positive parts first: This movie showed that Tobey Maguire has a great ranges as an actor. He is funny AND serious in this movie and he did it perfectly. Tobey can be thrown into any Movies Genres and he will deliver a great performance. The other casts are great too, especially Ray Liotta (Tommy Vercetti's Voice-Actor in GTA Vice City). It was great to see Spiderman and Tommy Vercetti in a movie together lol. I'd say Tobey is the star of the movie but Ray Liotta came really close. However, the negative part is...the "adult" scenes. This movie doesn't have that many of those scenes but they are still too strong for my taste :/ I always skip them everytime I watch this movies. But um...rather than just skip the "Adult" scenes, I would watch another movie instead. Sorry :/ |

| The Disaster Artist: 5/10- This is one that I looked forward to for a long time, being a long time disciple of "The Room", going to every public showing I can, and even going as far as to meet co-star Greg Sistero, buy his book, and then force a friend to do line reads with him. What can I say? I like a good shit movie, and "The Room" was good shit. Reading the wacky and horrifying first person encounters in Sistero's book made it all the more compelling to me. This crappy movie is to me what Kubrick's "The Shining" is to others. Every time I watch it I find something to scratch my head over, or connect back to "The Disaster Artist" book (which I've read around 4 times now since owning it for 2 years and forced peers to read it too). It's a truly complex creation for something so shallow and dumb. If you haven't figured out yet, I really looked forward to the movie based on this book I love about another movie that I love...
And I didn't.
Well, I saw the movie "Disaster Artist", but it wasn't the hit with me that it was with critics, and I'm beginning to wonder how structurally it's worthy of a +90% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Biases aside, this movie felt very hodgepodge put together. In a way it was like a PWG match, and don't get me wrong, I love PWG, but sometimes it devolves into setting up one spot after the other without any flow in between. That was the "Disaster Artist" in a nutshell. It grabbed some trivial minutia from the book, did a scene about it, and connected a bunch of those together with a very thin line of a plot. It's not like the performances were bad, because Franco nailed Wiseau, and Ari Graynor did great in her short bits of screen time as Juliette Danielle. Some of the casting didn't work, like Dave as Greg, and some felt like shoving celebrities in for the sake of letting them be celebrities acting out "The Room". I could let most of that go if it weren't for the fact that the movie essentially lionized (a word Chris Jericho uses, but doesn't mean what he thinks it means) Tommy Wiseau as a victim of the Hollywood system. He isn't. He's bad. All of the actors in "The Room" are bad, and Tommy's an even worse director, script writer, and producer. He's also a very possessive man who wanted Greg Sistero all to himself, and to make a movie essentially just to paint himself as a mistreated good guy who "everybody betray him. he fed up with this worl'". The funny and aggregating thing about it is that Franco essentially did the exact same thing, and ignored Tommy's vast shortcomings and downright sins as a human being. He made Tommy the underdog, even though he treated his revolving door "Lisa's" like crap, treated the rest of the cast like crap, and went through three different full film crews due to his anger, ineptitude, secretiveness, and arrogance. I think Tommy's an interesting guy with a dark and complex past that we may never fully know about, but he's not someone worthy of rooting for or lauding with a massive positive spotlight that hides his shadows. It almost feels like a slap in the face how cookie cutter Hollywood happily ever after Franco went with the ending.
With all of that said and done, I do think Franco deserves an Oscar for his performance, and judging by some things toward the end of the movie it looks like they might've actually made a shot-for-shot remake of "The Room" which I hope comes out with a DVD or Blu-Ray release as an extra, but overall this wasn't a good film. Read the book if you're going to watch it though just to fill in the blanks for yourself |

| Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi - 8/10
I'll keep it short, sweet and spoiler free. Put it simply... FANTASTIC. Action is amazing, characters begin to really shine as we learn more and more about their backstories, and the cinematography, the score, the comedy and the directing all really, really spot on. I really dug the direction the movie was going throughout give or take some certain scenes that really brought me out of the movie unfortunately, but I guess upon reflection that's to be expected in Star Wars. If you are open to Sci-Fi movies taking leaps of faith, go see this. If you are open to plenty of twists and turns, go see this. Star Wars fans SHOULD love this. I know a lot of people are afraid it might be too similar to Empire Strikes Back much like how The Force Awakens was too similar to A New Hope, but fret not. For the most part, it IS it's own movie!
There are, of course, some things I would like to discuss in depth about what I did not like in this film, but I shall wait until more of you have seen it. But, until then...

| Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle - 9/10
Well, I really like this. Actually I feel a little bit weird to have The Rock in this type of movie *cough*journeytothecenteroftheearth*cough* but surprisingly this is one enjoyable movie. I really like how the casts deliver the movie really good and I personally love Jack Black here lol. Too bad, we are not seeing Robin Williams in this movie again but yeah, this is one entertaining movie. |

| The Shape of Water 10/10
I haven't seen such a perfect film in years. Del Toro's finest work. It had great acting, a great period piece motif, wonderful subtext and social commentary, and was just an all around beautiful piece of cinematography. It took some digging to find a showing near me. In a season of blockbuster movies this was a film. |

| Jumanji welcome to the jungle. 9/10
Really enjoyed this one, the performance of jack black is noteworthy for his ability to come off as a 17 year old girl trapped inside a grown man’s body. A well done movie all around, with just a few nitpicks ( like why is there not an end level boss after at least one of the areas they trek through, and how does a blender work in the jungle?)
Go see it |
