They should have the option to conduct them if it's deemed necessary. Shit needs to be cleaned up in schools if they're doing them on grounds.

No. It's a step against privacy. The next step is watching them take the piss test, then TSA pat downs to get in the school.

It's hard enough to get kids to show up to school as is. But if you add drug testing, you are definitely asking for more skipping and such because nobody wants to get in trouble with the law. Even for those who aren't doing drugs, it would probably make them feel uncomfortable and may play a part in not showing up, too.

And the idea itself wouldn't help matters. If NFL players, who are making millions beyond millions, continue to abuse the drug policy even though they know they get drug tested... what's stopping a student from continuing on themselves?

All students shouldn't have drug tests. If you weren't a student of the public high school system in New York, some of the things I'd describe to you would be seen as taboo. Scanning does just as much as needed, and they don't need to be everyday. Drug tests should be done for students who are idiotic enough to make it apparent that they are under the influence. Certain programs in high school give that to SOME students who they feel are at danger, but rarely does its job. All and all, the environment and the household the student was raised in plays the biggest factor, but isn't the deciding one. It really depends on the area of the school and what is going on.
