| As someone currently going through a harsh case of writer's block, unable to do my usual rituals of writing since I am currently staying with my girlfriend, I am curious as to how others get themselves into character and/or commit to writing their promos.
Is their a ritual of sorts you perform? Or do you watch/listen to something while writing to keep you motivated? |

| Some good music will do it for ya. Now picking the correct genre and artists also play a big role. If the music don't fit your character, then it might not be too beneficial to you. Generally some very loud fanfare-esque rock, rap, or dubstep put me right in the mood to promo as Nas depending on once again the circumstances and opponent. I could go into a million different details about this but meh. I don't see the need for it. |

| I normally inspire myself off the previous show and latest card to as start of a promo. From there sometimes I wait to see if my opponent(s) promos and base myself off what they wrote to see where I go with Ryan. Thinking ''What would Deadpool do?'' on occasion does it for me but I don't use that as much as one might think.
Often I go with the flow and what first comes to mind with Ryan and then i add a sprinkle of Mister Fourthwall and The Intern depending on what fits my need.
I gotta admit it's not always easy to write promos though. |

| Late nights. Anytime where people aren't around. That helps me tremendously. When there is nothing else to do. |

| Reading - scripts, books, lyrics, quotes, promos. You name it. Reading, doing some brainstorming deeper into what my character motivations are, and using my experiences. Jumbo all that into my time, and I constantly find ways to evolve my character. You just have to have an open mind to making mistakes to move forward, just like in life. |

| Sometimes it all comes down to how you can get yourself in the correct mindset and in the right zone. For me, I need to have no distractions when I write. No music, nothing going on in the background, etc. Just me and my laptop. Another thing when I'm stuck trying to start a promo is that I like to go around watching promos from real-life wrestlers. Find what wrestler suits your character best and go back through their past promos and segments and try and refer to them as best you can. |

| Music. Still and forever will be music for me.
it removes all noises around my house, so I can just focus on the promo. I also kind of put discord on mute as well at the same time. |

| Absolute serenity. I usually work on my promos during midnight where there are no outside disturbance anymore. Plus I usually write the point of my promo on the note to be later expanded. I also write the outline in my native language first then later I am developing it into one promo. Mine's a bit complicated since English is not my native language but eh, it works for me.

| Music is fine, but more often complete silence helps me enter my flow state. |

| mooIf it's d and who I'm facing. If it's an important match, I'll play music to get me hyped. If I'm writing a match, then I'll play some wrestling matches in the background for inspiration. |

| Sometimes I write my promos at 3 AM and sometimes I write my promos at 6-8 PM. Depending on my mood with no disturtation at all, lol.
To be honest, reading script/shows is what help me the most. I have to read my opponent promos first if they post their work first, lol. |

| Moongoose McQueen - Boredom (Character basically has ADD). Also to be spiteful for the sake of causing someone to roll their eyes, and be like, "Damn it, he promoed bomb me," though in reality, the last promo tends to add nothing and probably damaged my chances more, but due note I'm completely aware of this. Essentially, I'm just trolling.
Revy - Music as most of my promos are normally titled based on the song I'm listening to at the moment, and while the song choice itself does not inspire the content or message of the promo, it sets the mood in which the character is in in terms of if the song is upbeat, Revy is more jokey and cocky, or if its heavy and rough, edgy and pure violent. Or you know, I'm just making up shit to make the character seem compelling. Your call.
Shimmer - Movies. I'm a total cinephile when I write for this character.
Overall, I wouldn't write unless its something I really want to write. So if you don't give me shit, I tend to get very generic very fast. I honestly don't really enjoy writing unless I have genuine interest in it. Most of the time, I can tell my promos and matches drag on, which tends to be a good indication that I'm making crap up along the way with no real thought, which tend to be the worse. In truth, I can probably write anything, but by all means, they aren't good unless I care. I'm honestly disappointed in like 80% of the things I write. But you can tell when I'm getting very creative and having fun when it's not a generic "look at the camera and talk." I suppose if there is a spark, it's really more just an opportunity to experiment and try something different. |
