Elitist Football League: A Guide to the EFL Empty
PostSubject: Elitist Football League: A Guide to the EFL   Elitist Football League: A Guide to the EFL EmptyFebruary 5th 2018, 10:26 pm

So, a lot of you might be wondering about what the EFL is. Some of you might not even give a shit. That’s okay. This thread is to provide as much information as we (Aria & Keelan) can to what this is going to be.

For those who do not know, the EFL is EAW’s American football league. Yes, this idea was inspired by the XFL believe it or not. 16 teams, split up into two conferences, have been decided to take part in the inaugural season of the Elitist Football League which begins this Friday, and every game will be posted on the E-fed Zone with the quick results, box score, miscellaneous information and a brief rundown for each game by a correspondent. Every game will be thrown into a simulator which I have found online. I’ve tested it and it works great with what we’re trying to achieve. You might be asking why we are doing this? Well, we’re doing it for fun, plain and simple. We’re doing it because we can.

So with that said, I’ll jump into as much detail as possible now, and split it up into sections so it’s easier to understand. We’ll start with the Social Ambassadors:

SOCIAL AMBASSADORS

Each team has its own social ambassador who are elitists from EAW. For example, we have Aria Jaxon as the ambassador for the Los Angeles Seadevils. Lars Grier as the ambassador for the Ohio Dragons. Chris Elite as the ambassador for the Brooklyn Bombers. The ambassadors have been announced in the Discord chat, but I will also provide the ambassadors again in this thread as well. Now if you have been named a social ambassador, you don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to. However, it is strongly encouraged to take part in the fun. The basic idea we have in mind for ambassadors is to jump onto the EAW feed and promote your upcoming games. This can be done by showing support to your team, maybe even announcing that you might be attending an upcoming home game you might decide to attend, or even get into some feed beef with an upcoming opponent of yours. The idea is to just have fun with it and go with the flow.

The ambassadors to each team are:

Eastern Conference:
New Jersey Alphas - Nasir Escobar
Brooklyn Bombers - Chris Elite
Detroit Bullets - Tarah Nova
Florida Surge - Andrea Valentine
Toronto Sixers - Tig Kelly
Ohio Dragons - Lars Grier
Connecticut Generals - Ryan Adams (Mr. DEDEDE)
Chicago Storm - Astraea Jordan

Western Conference:
Los Angeles Seadevils - Aria Jaxon
Houston Blaze - Rebecca McQueen (Revy)
Dallas Archers - Claudia Michaels (HBG)
Milwaukee Mayhem - Nicolette Lyons
Seattle Stampede - Daisy Thrash
Las Vegas Luck - David Davidson
New Orleans Knights - Carlos Rosso
Portland Squids - Kenny Drake

SCHEDULE:

The way the schedule works is really, fairly straightforward. The 2018 season takes place only days after the NFL season ends (this is to showcase that the EFL would be attempting to rival them as competition). The 2018 season has 128 games that will be played over a 16-week schedule. As previously stated, the first game begins this coming Friday on February 9th with the opening game being between the Connecticut Generals and the Brooklyn Bombers. Each of the league’s 16 teams will play a 16 game schedule every weekend with no bye rounds. The slate will feature games played from Friday - Monday every week. The regular season will conclude on Sunday, May 27th, and from there, we will enter the postseason.

The four best teams from each conference will take part in the first ever EFL playoffs beginning on Friday June 1st and will continue for a total of three weeks before the championship game. We hope to have the championship game take place on Pain For Pride weekend from Las Vegas, Nevada, home to the Pain For Pride Festival.

You can view the full schedule on the EFL wikia which will be provided at the bottom of this thread. The schedule for each round will also be posted every week on the EAW feed.

STATS:

Each team has their own offensive and defensive stats which were decided with a number randomizer last week. The way stats work is, again, very simple. Each team has an offensive and defensive stat that can be set with a number between 1 and 9, with 1 being the lowest and 9 being the highest. The stats to each team are:

New Jersey Alphas:
Offence: 8
Defence: 2

Brooklyn Bombers:
Offence: 3
Defence: 1

Detroit Bullets:
Offence: 6
Defence: 9

Florida Surge:
Offence: 5
Defence: 6

Toronto Sixers:
Offence: 9
Defence: 8

Ohio Dragons:
Offence: 1
Defence: 6

Connecticut Generals:
Offence: 3
Defence: 2

Chicago Storm:
Offence: 3
Defence: 7

Los Angeles Seadevils:
Offence: 9
Defence: 7

Houston Blaze:
Offence: 3
Defence: 6

Dallas Archers:
Offence: 4
Defence: 5

Milwaukee Mayhem:
Offence: 8
Defence: 6

Seattle Stampede:
Offence: 3
Defence: 4

Las Vegas Luck:
Offence: 6
Defence: 7

New Orleans Knights:
Offence: 5
Defence: 8

Portland Squids:
Offence: 1
Defence: 6

Now, what does all this tell you? By the looks of things, there are a lot of mediocre teams with just a few really solid teams on both ends. While some might get a little disheartened on their stats, it doesn’t necessarily take your team out of the running to make the playoffs. There’s a lot of teams in this league for this season that are just about even, which could make for a lot of close games when run through the simulator. I’ve tested this simulator out through a few seasons, and a team that I gave their offence and defence 9’s didn’t even make it past the first round of the playoffs. It’s important to remember that the WHOLE season - including the playoffs - will be randomized. So it is entirely possible to see a team like the Brooklyn Bombers or the Seattle Stampede to make the playoffs.

OFF-SEASON:

At the end of the championship game, the EFL will enter an off-season. Now we haven’t thought about a lot of plans for what could happen in the off-season. We could hold a draft for a bunch of created players which can be decided through a randomizer online, but the rough plan we have in mind right now for the off-season goes as follows.

Teams that finish in the top four of each conference retain the right to keep their current stats at the end of the playoffs to have for next season should they choose. If not, their stats will be thrown through the randomizer again. Teams that did not qualify for the playoffs will be forced to change their stats. This is to imitate what would happen in real life when the worst teams get the best draft picks each year. These teams could be stronger the next season with solid players drafted, or they could be even worse than before.

So to give a rough example, say the New Orleans Knights make the playoffs. Their stats are currently 5-8 to offence-defence. Carlos could decide that he would like to keep those stats for next season if he wants, or he could decide to have them randomized again. It’s risky, but could be worth it in the end.

FACTS ABOUT THE FRANCHISES:

Just as with real-life professional football teams, each EFL team has a front office, comprised of people who are involved with the organization without actually suiting up themselves. Now, the staffs of said front offices would presumably be pretty large, but the only people we’ll really be putting names and faces to (as of now) are the head coaches and owners of each team. This could definitely change going forward, though. Listed below will be the owner for each team, their pic base, the head coach, their pic base, the home field and the walk-out anthem:
