| For those of you who saw the announcement on last week's Showdown (or didn't), EAW will be introducing a new Championship to replace the Hall of Fame Championship: The Openweight Championship. The first Champion will be crowned at Pain For Pride X in the Extreme Enigma Elimination Match between Dynasty's Target Smiles, Empire's Tarah Nova, Showdown's Ryan Marx, and Voltage's Solomon Caine. It's all somewhat of an experimental thing, but we really wanted to introduce a different kind of Championship that's more about competitive matches instead of the traditional storyline-based stuff. Of course, storylines may play some part throughout the Championship's defenses, but it's ultimately just about being the best and representing your brand. I'm making this not only to introduce the Championship itself, but the Rules that will go with it. It's a bit more complicated than an ordinary Championship, though some aspects of it may be familiar. - Here are the Openweight Championship Rules:
- The inaugural Champion will be crowned in the Extreme Enigma Elimination Match, pitting a representative from Voltage, Showdown, Empire, and Dynasty against one another.
- All four representatives have been given immunity from the EAW Draft, allowing them to remain on their respective brands, win or lose.
- The Openweight Champion will go on to represent their brand, and will defend it from there on against one representative from each opposing brand in a specific order.
- The order of challenging brands will be determined by the order of eliminations in the Extreme Enigma Elimination Match.
- The brand of the first representative to be eliminated will be last in line to challenge for the Openweight Championship, the second to be eliminated will challenge second, and last eliminated will challenge for it first.
- The order of brands can only change when the Championship has changed hands (the former Champion’s brand will become the last to challenge while the other two brands move up one spot) and when the Champion relinquishes the Title (see below).
- The Championship can ONLY be defended against a representative of an opposing brand when it is that brand’s turn to challenge - it cannot be defended against multiple representatives, a brand out of its spot in the order, nor from a member of the Champion’s own brand.
- A traditional Openweight Championship Singles Match Rules will consist of No Count Outs while the Championship can change hands by Disqualification (intentional Disqualification can be at the Referee’s discretion, allowing for them to reverse the result after the match has ended based on replay evidence).
- The brand next in line to challenge can select their representative by any manner they choose.
- The Championship defense will take place at the Champion’s home brand weekly show or exclusive Free-Per-View (unless it takes place at an inter-branded Free-Per-View).
- If the Champion successfully retains it against a representative from each opposing brand, they may relinquish it for a World Championship opportunity against the World Champion of their respective brand.
- The reigning Champion can choose not to cash in World Championship opportunity, but must continue to defend the Championship. The Champion will be allowed to relinquish it after each future defense, but should they lose the Championship, they will also lose their World Championship shot.
- When the Champion has relinquished it for a World Championship opportunity, a new Champion will be crowned in a Three-Way Dance between representatives of the three challenging brands in which the order will change so that the former Champion’s brand will be the first to challenge, the first eliminated will be the last to challenge, and the last eliminated will be the second to challenge.
I tried my best to make everything as clear as possible, and did my best to make every aspect of it work, so hopefully it makes sense. If anyone has any questions about it, feel free to ask here on this thread. As for the Championship design, while it's not the final product, I figure I'll post it as a sneak peak. - Openweight Championship Design (Not Final) by Jamie O'Hara:

| Didn't see the belt design. I like some things about it. the 4 gems up top with the brand colors is a nice touch. I do agree about the roundness being a bit off-putting, but I do like the sort of old school look some of the designs lend to the belt. |

| Put a spinner on that sh!t! Just kidding, but love the idea and concept and it presents more opportunities for both the women and the men, but mainly a shot at the women's title.
*waits to see this get shot down so quickly. |

| I like the idea of the belt, something like that was needed in place of the HOF Championship. As for the design, I salute Jamie for pulling this off, it's no easy feat. Looks great. |

| Great idea, I like the rules for the belt as I think that helps set it apart from others, and I'm proud to be fighting for the chance to be the inaugural champion. Thanks to those who are offering their support to me, and good luck to my PFP opponents - I think any of the four of us would be a good first champion, and I look forward to promoing against you three. |
