NJPW announced at ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds that they will be introducing a new US Title that will be crowned during the G1 Climax in California this Summer.

Wow... It seems like WWE are getting a giant middle finger from NJPW.

Oh joy, can't wait for it to be forgotten as quickly as the NEVER 6 man titles.

Like the idea of them hitting their American market, like the idea of the IWGP becoming a global governing body like the NWA and the tournament should be good. Not too sure if I like the name though, perhaps because of the name similarity to the WWE belt. Not sure if this'll lead to an IWGP United Kingdom Championship what with their RevPro partnership.

love the concept but that's an ugly fucking belt compared to the Intercontinental and Heavyweight Championships imo

WWE vs NJPW, it's on baby!

I don't think that there's been a good looking US Championship in the history of wrestling.  The NWA's was an eye sore, WCW's looked like the winged eagle design with a flag sticker pasted on, and WWE's...ugh.  This belt joins an illustrious class of titles that all look fugly and it fits right in.  However, I do look forward to seeing New Japan in the US more and seeing them do what they do best, and that's make a midcard belt look like a million bucks.  Here's a closer picture for those curious.
