Hey everyone!
I’m gonna ask you guys and gals something I’ve been wanting to for a while now. Whenever I buy the WWE video games, I’ve never really bought them to play. I usually only play them long enough to unlock everything, and from that point on I use the game for my own fantasy booking. With a combination of real wrestlers and my own CAWs, I book my own Raw and Smackdown shows, as well as PPV shows. I progress the backstage segments, promos, and other story elements in my head, and use the game AI to conduct the matches and book the next match according to who wins. With Wrestlemania around the corner, I wanted to share my current Wrestlemania card and get your opinions on the stories/feuds I got going into the show, along with your thoughts on my CAW characters. What you like, what you don’t like, what you would do, etc.
I’ll give a brief description of how the story has gone so far, and a brief explanation of my own characters gimmicks and so. If you have questions about the feuds or stories, just ask and I’ll explain further. With that in mind, here we go…
WWE World Championship:
Samoa Joe (c) vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn
Story: When Samoa Joe cashed in his MITB contract to become WWE Champion, few saw the reign of destruction he would bring to all challengers. He’s left a pile of broken bodies in his wake. But there seems to be one man who won’t stay down…Sami Zayn. Coming up short in a title shot at Royal Rumble, Sami survived the encounter and vowed he wasn’t going to give up his quest to become champion. Enter former best friend Kevin Owens, who wants his shot at the title. The two fight over who will get the chance to fight Joe for the belt, when Joe steps in to kick both their asses, declaring he’ll fight both of them, that he doesn’t care who it is or how many there are, he’ll destroy all challengers. But that doesn’t stop both Joe and Owens from teaming up to try and cripple Sami as much as they can leading into the Show Of Shows. Will Sami Zayn have the ultimate underdog comeback and finally obtain his dream, or will the overpowering strength of Owens and Joe be too much for him?
WWE Universal Championship:
John Cena (c) vs. Ace
Story: When Ace, the man who doesn’t believe in luck, returned at the Royal Rumble to win, many were happy to see their old hero back. That was until he randomly attacked Cena after the Chamber match was over. He later explained that his actions were all due to a burning question of “what if”. What if he had been around during the Universal Championships creation? Would he have been it’s first champion? What if he faced off against Cena, one of the few people he never had a match with? He also wants to prove he can do more for the belt than Cena, as Cena is a doormat who allows the fans to disrespect them with “Cena sucks” chants. But John is going to stay true to himself, allow the fans to chant whatever they want, and show Ace that coming back to fight him was the worst mistake of his life. Will Cena be able to hold onto the championship, or will his luck have finally run out?
The Beast vs. The Demon:
Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Finn Balor
Story: Brock Lesnar has run through just about all the opponents you can think of. So much so that Heyman can’t think of any possible opponents for Brock to face. So when he made an open challenge, he figured nobody would be brave enough to step forward. He didn’t count of Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor stepping through the curtain in full Demon attire. Finn is out to prove that Brock is not the Beast he once was, and that even if he is, a Beast will never be a match for a Demon. Heyman on the other hand believes Finn is pretending to be a Demon will all his face paint, and that Brock doesn’t need any of that to put the fear of God in others. But perhaps Finn’s mind games are getting to the The Beast Incarnate more than Heyman wants to admit. Will Brock finally be taking down, or will The Beast claim yet another victim?
Inter-Promotional Match:
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Hideo Itami
Story: Raw and Smackdown! Two brands constantly trying to outshine the other. And what better place to do that than Wrestlemania. And who better to represent the brands than two of Japan’s biggest stars ever. Shinsuke Nakamura of Raw…Hideo Itami of Smackdown! It’s a Japanese dream match that comes to America. Who will prevail for their brand…The King Of Strong Style or the Innovator Of The GTS?
The Feud That Never Was:
Chris Jericho vs. Goldberg
Story: When Goldberg was announced to be returning to WWE, one man was not very happy about this fact…Chris Jericho! Still sour over their previous heat back in WCW, Jericho went on several tirades leading up to Goldberg’s return denouncing him as a disgrace to wrestling. But he ate his words when, at the Royal Rumble, Jericho was eliminated by the returning Goldberg. But the score was evened when at Fastlane, Jericho interfered in Goldberg’s WWE Championship Match and cost him the victory. Now the two rivals are going to settle the score once and for all. It’s the Feud That Never Was in WCW; years of animosity are finally coming to a head. Is Chris Jericho truly the GOAT, or will he be next?
Tag Team Kings of the Ring Finals:
The Rough Necks vs. Lee Malone & Kurt Burton
Story: When the WWE announced it’s first ever Tag Team Kings Of The Ring Tournament, every team wanted in on the action. Weeks of contests and eliminations has finally gotten us to the final two teams. The impromptu teaming of strung out addict Kurt Burton and World’s Angriest Man Lee Malone has done better than anyone could’ve expected, especially seeing as how they were until recently Smackdown Tag Team Champs. But now they have to face off against the newest team to arrive in WWE, Duke Basham and Troy Stone…the Rough Necks; a team of good ole country boys who remain undefeated since their arrival. Malone & Burton were soon cost their titles in a contest to American Alpha due to mind games on the part of the Rough Necks. Now it’s personal going into this finals match of the tournament. Will Malone & Burton get their revenge, or will the Rough Necks remain undefeated?
Bray Wyatt vs. Eddie Lopez
Story: Eddie Lopez is a man who believes in being real. He is the man who proudly declares “No Gimmick Needed”! But he didn’t count on gaining the interest of Bray Wyatt. After an encounter in the Elimination Chamber where Wyatt stalked Lopez, he declares that he has seen the truth of who Eddie is in his eyes, and that he will expose him as a man filled with fear, and that he will show him what it means to be “real”. Lopez on the other hand doesn’t buy into anything Wyatt claims to be and will expose him as a fraud and false prophet. Will Eddie Lopez’s philosophy carry him through to the end, or will he learn just how real The New Face Of Fear can be?
AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler
Story: Ever since coming to the WWE, AJ Styles has insisted he’s the best wrestler in the company and has demanded respect, titles, opportunities, and just about everything else. And Dolph Ziggler is just about sick of it! After listening to one too many of his tantrums, Ziggler came out to shut AJ up for good, showing AJ the difference between them; that while he talks about being the best, he goes out to Showoff being the best. And so the ultimate game of one-upmanship began, finally culminating at Wrestlemania. Is AJ Styles truly The Face That Runs The Place, or will Dolph Ziggler continue to Showoff why he’s the best there is?
Extreme Rules Match:
Dean Ambrose vs. Sokolov
Story: Dean Ambrose was set to compete in the Elimination Chamber match, but due to an assault backstage he had to be replaced with Sokolov, the perfect Russian fighting machine. Sokolov then revealed it as HE who attacked Ambrose, stating that Ambrose’s fighting style is sloppy and undisciplined, and that only himself had a chance to surviving the Chamber. Naturally, the Lunatic Fringe takes issue with that, and challenges Sokolov to a real fight. And what better way to prove ones fighting ability than with an Extreme Rules Match. Going into the match each tries to showoff their style of fighting, but which one will ultimately win? Will it be the chaotic, street-fighting style of Ambrose, or the precise, brawling style of The Russian Gladiator?
United States Championship:
Kenny Awesome (c) vs. Joey Starr
Story: Kenny Awesome is about as obnoxious and arrogant a heel as you can get. Believing his namesake is true, Kenny has bragged about how he is the greatest United States Champion in history. But what he didn’t count on was the return of Joey Starr, a rock star personality who has the longest reign as United States Champion in WWE history. So naturally he takes issue with Kenny’s claim. So now the stage is set. It’s old vs. new! Will Kenny be able to back up his claim of superiority, or is Joey Starr truly the greatest United States Champion in history?
Andre Silva (w/ Tony Quinn) vs. Roman Reigns
Story: Andre Silva is your typical MMA fighter with a snobbish, stuck up attitude. He’s an athlete to believes he’s better than everyone else and that he’s the biggest attraction in the world. Think a combo of MVP’s old WWE gimmick and Brock Lesnar. And with his sleazy agent Tony Quinn at his side, he’s had a pretty good first year in WWE. But now Andre wants some serious competition. And who better than The Big Dog himself, the one deemed as WWE’s future…Roman Reigns. Of course Roman is up to the challenge and accepts. It’s a battle of two men who each believe they are the future of WWE. But will that future be written with a Superman Punch or a Silva Bullet (Andre’s finisher).
WWE RAW Tag Team Championship:
The Asylum (w/ Dr. Erik Vance) (c) vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass (w/ Carmella)
Story: You’ll all remember Dr. Vance and his patient Psycho Brody. Well together with another crazy monster character named Vega, who has two sides to his personality (dark and darker), the trio has formed a tag team known as The Asylum! They’ve run over just about every tag team that has gotten in their way. However, when the Tag Team King Of The Ring contest was announced, they were shockingly not participating. And when Enzo & Cass got pretty far in the tournament, they attacked them and cost them their spot in the Semi-Finals, not wanting Raw to be represented by such a disgraceful tag team. Of course Enzo and Big Cass weren’t going to take this one without revenge, so they challenged them to a match at Mania for their titles, and invited their old friend Carmella to even the odds. Will Enzo & Cass be able to exact their revenge, or will The Asylum continue to reign supreme?
