"At an historic press conference at the O2 Arena in London, Triple H revealed that WWE’s first-ever United Kingdom Champion will be crowned this January.

The WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament is a 16-competitor, two-day throwdown at Blackpool’s Empress Ballroom, airing live and exclusively on the award-winning WWE Network, featuring some of the best talent the U.K. has to offer. The last man standing at the end of the tournament will be crowned champion and awarded a title, which was also revealed at the conference.

Joining Triple H in London were former WWE Universal Champion Finn Bálor, General Manager of NXT William Regal and British wrestling icon Nigel McGuinness, who will be calling the tournament action on WWE Network alongside the voice of Monday Night Raw, Michael Cole. The WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament competitors also took the stage."

I'm looking forward to the tournament but I wonder if this is going to be an actual division or it's going to be it's own entity within WWE like 205 Live that will be only hosted in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

From the announcement video, it sounds like the intention is to be similar to 205 live and NXT. A Sky TV UK and WWE Network exclusive recorded in the UK. Got nothing concrete to support that.

That belt looks absolutely beautiful. I really hope this leads to the signing of guys like Marty Scurll, Zack Sabre JR and Mark Andrews in all honesty. It may even lead to Noam Dar becoming a Double-Crown champion.

ZSJ most likely wont, he was meant to be in the finals for the CWC, perhaps even winning it. But like Kota Ibushi, he turned down a contract so they were both eliminated.

This is just a theory, but Brexit may be a reason as to why its not a full European thing.

Marty has an ROH Contract and is the ROH TV Champ... Jimmy I believe has priorities somewhere else.

The overall design is great but they need to stop using the same faceplate.

Yup just read it today. Definitely excited for this to happen. And as everyone said, wondering if this will be a division.

Extra news just came in: WWE will not be signing any of these talents exclusively, they can still wrestle in the UK indies if they please. This is just a platform for UK fans and to make British wrestling a more global thing to view.

Um. Permission to have McAdams change the belt to look like that cause holy cow that thing is beautiful

I'm actually friends with a UK wrestler (old efed buddy) who knows a lot of the guys competing in the tournament

I can't wait to see how that belt looks in person.
