For example, someone is an Atheist and you are a Christian, a Republican and you are a Democrat, a vegan and you are a meat lover. Would that change the dynamic of your relationship with the person in question so much that you wouldn't be able to get along?

Yeah for the most part.  We'd just have to learn to accept one another's differences without trying to convert one another to our particular social clique.  I've dated atheists before and that was never the problem in our relationships.  I've never dated anyone who identified as Democrat or Republican for that matter, mostly because I tend not to be attracted to anyone who pushes an agenda and both parties do in every walk of life.  I'm sure I've dated someone whose voted one way or the other, and there sure as hell are a lot of girls I went to high school with that I crushed on hard who've suddenly unveiled this Rebel Flag loving, abortion hating, god-fearing mentality that I hadn't noticed before (probably because social media wasn't really a 'thing' back then.)  I also see a lot of rainbow colored rebel flags comprised of the Star of David and reverse Swastikas over the past few weeks, however I expected to see most of those things from some of my female friends because most of them identify as gay, but even the straight girls who posted it didn't surprise me to be honest, and I don't think I think one way or the other about their happiness toward gay marriage or their disdain for the rebel flag.  I do, however, hate how most of them think that they can gain powers from rocks and new wave healing.  I suspect one may even be a furry, but it doesn't change the fact that at one time none of that mattered and I felt or feel some level of attraction toward them.  Even the bat shit ones who consider their back massaging job a stand alone field in the medical world (whole bunch of arguments over that one.)

But yeah, you can find a connection in someone if you're both capable of looking past the minutia of societal labels and recognize most of it as a bullshit reason not to love someone.

I think I could at least test the waters in terms of dating, but I think many of us are friends with people who have different views than us and we might not realize it unless a topic comes up. I've always found it's best to avoid talking politics with people all together. But that's just me. Some people love to debate.

You need someone to level you out tbh. Its not the views that ever make things bad, its how you handle them. If you are with another person who can justify their views without having to force them on you then you're good. Likewise, you have to be the type of person that can see their side clearly and agree that they have some merit to their views. Most of my friends even have greatly different views and that usually fuels a good time drinking

Pretty much this. If they can be mature about it and don't try to force it on me, I'm all for being friends/dating/whatever. If they had the same views as me, there'd be nothing for us to talk about.

My personal opinion on the subject is that differences can strengthen a relationship at first, but they could also easily be the reason one deteriorates. You have to consider how willing someone is to fight for their beliefs before you touch on a certain subject, and I just really don't like having to be careful about everything I say so as to not displease someone I'm trying to get along with. Differences are great to a certain extent, but healthy relationships/friendships generally include a passion both people involved bond over.

I'm not taking an Atheist home to mom but I'd try to compromise with anything else as you need to have that in any kind of relationship.

As far as relationships go, I consider them to be a way for me to find a wife, and I couldn't be married to anyone who didn't share my faith.

That said, I am close friends with at least 2 atheists (that I know of) and one deist. Good people are good people, and opinions don't change that.

No to vegan-it would cost a lot of money eventually for us to always have different food cooked at home, plus every vegan I've heard of are either pushy about it or anoying-. Religion would depend on if they'd force me to take part of their religion. I don't care about political views.

I personality have a lot of friends with different points of view then mine, but for a couple I would say you need to be somewhat like minded.  I was more or less married to someone who had a very different mindset and it help to quickly deteriorate  our relationship quickly.

Currently in a relationship with someone like that and our debates are a blast. As long as they're open minded it shouldn't be a problem.

Depends on the differing beliefs. If she's out here talking about black people don't deserve rights, I'm giving her the  :camby:

Look, son, I'm not too proud to admit that I'd abandon my values and temporarily feign being a white-knighting pussy if it's for a chick that is unquestionably a perfect 10. That doesn't mean my values aren't my values; it just means they're indefinitely suspended.

So long as someone is open-minded and willing to see my point of view and have actual valid arguments. I enjoy conversations like that in general, it's nice to know what goes on in the minds of others.

Nope. You have to understand, I'm on a right-roll. I literally haven't been incorrect on anything opinion wise for four months. If you disagree with me it's because you're wrong. And even if I'm factually incorrect, I REFUSE to let a woman believe she is more correct than me, which makes her wrong by default.

It would really depend on certain things. I'm honestly a big Green Party supporter up here in Canada, only because I feel as if our environment has been in one of the most critical states of all time.
So literally if you're going to be "Climate Change is bullschmidt" then you probably won't like me to begin with. I am very keen on saving energy. Even then it's not a "Left or Right" thing. Just as long as you admit climate change is a legitimate problem and don't want theocracy I don't really give a schmidt.

LOL but Climate Change is bullshit in the sense that the effects on the O-Zone are irreversible and every bold statement made about climate change is bullshit, and dumping money and killing jobs over it isn't gonna help the economy pal.

And also a theocracy is necessary. The United States operating on Christian principle values is what made this country the best in the world. It's when we started giving women and Fags an equal voice, handing out government aid and allowing the nuclear family to no longer be an necessity that things went downhill. Christianity >

How can that be when the only things we need to do to prevent such environmental effects is to replace our plastic with cannabis. The economy can still benefit from such things as environmental protection. Lets look at California for example. They are still very much the highest economy in the United States while still having the strictest environmental laws. If that's possible for California, there's possibility in other states. The same is pretty much true up here in Ontario. We are one of the most environmentally strict provinces all while still having one of their strongest economies.

As for Theocracy, I'm sorry but the "In God We Trust" slogan of the United States was made in the 60s in order to stop the Communist primarily atheistic law.
Honestly from a pagan perspective. I don't see why Christians, Muslims and Jews fight all the time. You all worship the same god.
