Smackdown got hosed overall.

What Smackdown went through is giving me PTSD flashblacks to what Dynasty has gone through in the draft.

Poor Heath.  

Part of me believes that Smackdown's roster would have been taken more seriously if a select few names were picked on-air instead in post-show.  Ryder, Crews, and Bliss would have at least made it a bit more palatable for me than Baron Corbin.  When it comes to star power, Smackdown did OK, but the midcard (women's division in particular) seems a bit sparse.  Even the tag division feels like island of the misfit toys, but at least some of them (one of them) is popular.

I'm also kind of confused as to why the NXT 6 picks were so uneven with SD getting 4 and Raw getting only 2.  What's more perplexing, of course, is that Carmella and Nia Jax were drafted over Bayley.

The RAW roster is filled with guys like Owens, Finn, Cesaro and Zayn who people don't want to see in the mid-card. Owens will eventually make the climb to the main event and maybe Finn as well, but if you elevate all those guys to the main event, then you're left with an insanely thin mid-card and if you don't elevate them, the fans get mad, it's a lose/lose situation no matter what. Not to mention the fact that they have a lot of part timers.

It's more talented than the Smackdown roster surely, but the Smackdown roster is much more balanced. You know who the main eventers are, you have Cena, Orton (who is very flexible in how you can book him) Ambrose, AJ and probably Bray. You also have a strong mid-card in Ziggler, Corbin, Del Rio (who has stated he wants to remain in the mid-card and win the IC title before retiring), Miz, Kalisto, Zack, Apollo Crews, etc. The fans aren't really clamoring for any of these guys to move up to the main event so they can take their time building up a very very strong and enjoyable mid-card.
