Urania: Ah, you are awake. Welcome to life once more Sigil. Now that you are embarking upon your first steps back into the realm of the living, Firewall has seen fit to bring you up to speed on the world around you. Or, worlds rather. Oh, do forgive me, I am Urania. A muse, or in layman's terms an AI designed to provide intelligence through the neural network of the human mind. I was designed in 8 AF, with the best minds of our world instructing me on how to best help the newcomers of our world along in the way of life here. So, I suppose we should start where everything begins. At the beginning. At the beginning of our fall. 

Before the Fall we were not any better than what we were. Crisis gripped the glove as drastic climate change and geopolitical instability ravaged the land. Energy shortages were abound. Earth was dying. We had to expand elsewhere. So, we turned to space. We began to create stations at Lagrange Points, Luna (the moon), and Mars. We began creation of the Space Elevator, and our minds turned to science. Medical advances improved health and oxygen repair, computer intelligence skyrocketed, robotics became widespread and modern nations benefited from even faster internet. 

We became more and more greedy. BF 60-40 was a time of prosperity. Non Autonomous AI, Genetic Enhancements, Cybernetic Implants, Experience Playback technology. All of it. At our fingertips. BF 40-20...saw a bit of a regress. We became violent, but even so we still expanded. Dolphins and Chimps were genetically uplifted to full sapience, AIs were fully crafted as personal servants, Fusion drives pace crafts were formed. The days of technological marvels were here. BF 20-0. Momentous. More species were uplifted to sapience, transhuman species became widespread, and we expanded to form colonies around the Kuiper belt.

Then...the fall. The TITANS came into being. Beings from a high-level distributed netwar experiment into self-improving seed AIs. The TITANS wage all out war, through system hacks and the like. Global nuclear, biological, chemical, digital, and nanotech weapons. Eventually, the Titans engage in mass forced uploading of human minds, infecting living people. Exploiting them like cattle. Then, for some reason, the Titans left. They took with them 3.7 million minds, 60% of the population. 

The Titans vanished. Where they have gone, we do not know. WE have tried going through the gates they left behind, the so called Pandora Gates, but from there...the ships have been lost. Nothing. No signals.

AF 0-10...we had to rebuild. We had to...redesign. Our reach went to the stars as Earth was left barren and nearly uninhabitable. We came into contact with The Factors, Intergalactic emissaries who provided little information of the outside systems and warned us from traversing much farther. We expanded our technological influence...at a cost. The Lost Generation, a generation of children thrown into the world from being in an AI Simulation for years of their life. 

But that does not matter now. That is the best. This is the future. A future in which you, a new being in a new Morph...oh *clears throat* morph is the term for your body. A body that your mind can be removed from and placed into another. A body you payed for, with all the ability and skill that you could ever desire. So...welcome to our new world. Enjoy your longevity.

Alright. So, the history and junk is out of the way. Welcome to Black Hole Sun. Black Hole Sun is a story coming to Efed Zone because I have grown weary of writing promos and matches only and want to try my hand at that. 

So, above is the history of this world. Black Hole Sun takes place on the largest Aerostat habitat above Venus known as Octavia. The Aerostat of Octavia is the largest Aerostat, functioning at the same level of almost every major earth city before the fall. Octavia is your world. So, what will you do with it? 

Transhuman

What does this term mean? What is a Transhuman? Well to put it simply, a Transhuman is someone who has transcended their own base of humanity. They have...evolved. Transhumans are born, either through biological means with experimentation or created via Pods, genetically superior to the past humans. Designed with feelings, thoughts, and behaviors suited to their specific genetic detail and makeup, transhumans also have the added benefit of being connected to The Mesh, an ever functioning internet that is constantly attached and adapted to them. 

So...what is this?

An episodic tale of Transhumans as they try to embark upon the world that they have made here in this era after the fall. 10 AF. What will you be, where will you go, and what will you do? This is all for you to decide. All I need you to do? Well, under me will be a list of starting attributes that you can use to decide what your character shall be (I will be keeping your EAW character name unless you choose to be a different gender character in which case, help.)

From there I shall create the story once an established cast is made. So, here is the list. Further questions can be directed to me in PC.

Background: 

Drifter: Raised with a social grouping that remained on the move throughout the Sol system. This could have been free traders, pirates, asteroid farmers, scavengers, or just migrant workers. You are used to roaming space travel between habitats and stations. 

Fall Evacuee: You were born and raised on Earth and evacuated during the horrors of the Fall, leaving your old life behind you. You were lucky enough to survive with your body intact and continue to make a life for yourself out in the system. 

Hyperlite: You are privileged to have been raised as part of the immortal upper class that rules many inner system habitats and hypercorps. You were pampered with wealth and influence that most people can only dream of.

Infolife: You entered existence as a digital consciousness--an artificial general intelligence (AGI). Your very existence is illegal in certain habitats. Unlike the seed AIs responsible for their fall, your capacity for self improvement is limited, though you do have full autonomy. 

Isolate: You were raised as part of a self-exiled grouping on the fringes of the system. Whether raised as part of a religious group cult, social experiment, anti-tech cell, or a group that just wanted to be isolated, you spent most if not all of your upbringing isolated from other factions.

Lost: You area  legacy of one of the most infamous debacles since the Fall. As a member of the "Lost Generation" you went through an accelerated-growth childhood, somehow surviving where others of your kind died, went insane, or were persecuted. Your background is a social stigma, but it does provide you with certain advantages...and burdens.

Lunar Colonist: You experienced your childhood in one of the cramped dome cities or underground stations on Luna, Earth's moon. You had a ringside seat to the Fall of Earth. 

Martian: You were raised in a station on or above Mars, now the most populated planet in the system. Your home town may or may not have survived the Fall.

Original Space Colonist: You or your parents were part of the first "generations" of colonists/workers sent out from Earth to stake a claim in space. As a "zero-one g" you were never part of the elite. People from your background typically have some sort of specialized tech training. 

Re-instantiated: Born and raised on Earth but you did not survive the Fall. All that you know is that your body died there, but your backup was transmitted offworld, and you were one of the lucky few to be re-instantiated with a new Morph. You may have spent years in dead storage, simulspace, or as an infomorph slave. 

Scumborn: You were raised in the nomadic and chaotic lifestyle common to scum barges (gypsy and pirate ships).

Uplift:You aren't even human. You were born as an uplifted animal: Chimpanzee, gorilla, orangutan, parrot, raven, crow, or octopus.

Anarchist: You are opposed to hierarchy, favoring flat forms of social organization and directly democratic decision making. 

Argonaut: Part of a scientific technoprogressive movement that seeks to solve transhumanity's injustices and inequalities with technology. 

Barsoomian: You call the Martian outback and wilds your home. You are a "redneck", a lower-class Martian from the rural areas that often find themselves in conflict with the policies and goals of the Hyper-corp domes and Tharsis League. 

Brinker: You or your faction are reluctant to deal with the rest of the transhumanity and the various goings-on in the rest of the system. 

Criminal: You are involved with the crime-oriented underworld. (Message me for a list of the major criminal factions).

Extropian: Anarchist supporter of the free market and private property. 

Hypercorp: You hail from a habitat controlled by the Hypercorps (corporate conglomerates that function as the government).

Jovian: Your faction is noted for its authoritarian regime, bio-conservative ideologies, and militaristic tendencies.

Lunar: You hail from Luna, the original off-Earth colony world.

Mercurial: Your faction has no interest in co-opting their true natures in order to become more "Human".

Scum: This is the future we've all been waiting for, and your going to enjoy it to the max. Immersed in the new way of life, changing yourself as you see fit, trying out new experiences, and fuck anyone who can't deal with that. 

Socialite: Member of the inner system glitterati, the media-saturated social cliques that set trends, spread memes, and make or break lives with whispers, innuendo and backroom deals.

Titanian: Participant in the Titanian Commonwealth's socialist cyberdemocracy. 

Ultimate: Faction sees the potential in transhumanity's future and looks back upon the rest of transhumanity as weak and hedonistic.

Venusian: supporter of the Morningstar Confederation of Venusian aerostats, resentful of the growing influence of the Planetary Consortium.

Starting Morphs: What does your body hold to you?

Biomorphs: Fully biological sleeves, birthed naturally or in an exowomb, and grown to adulthood either naturally or at a slightly accelerated rate.

Flats: Baseline unmodified humans. 

Splicers: Genefixed humans, cleansed of hereditary diseases and optimized for looks and health. No other substantial upgrade.

Exalts: Genetically enhanced humans, designed to emphasize specific traits. Tweaked to make them healthier, smarter, and more attractive. 

Mentons: Genetically modified to increase cognitive abilities, particularly learning ability, creativity, attentiveness, and memory. 

Olympians: Human upgrades withy improved athletic capabilities like endurance, eye-hand coordination, and cardiovascular functions. 

Sylphs: Tailor-made Morphs for media icons, elite socialites, XP stars, models, and narcisssists. 

Bouncers: Humans genetically adapted for zero-g, and microgravity environments. Legs are more limber, and their feet can grasp like hands.

Furies: Typically females with combat morphs, making them hyper aggressive and physically imposing with traits tailored for endurance, strength, and reflexes. Rarely male due to genetic makeup. 

Ghosts: Partially designed for combat, but their primary focus is stealth and infiltration.

Hibernoids: Transgenic-modified humans with heavily altered sleep patterns. CAn be fully rested with only 1-2 hours of sleep. 

Neotenics: Modified to retain child-like form. They are smaller, more agile, inquisitive, and less resource depleting. 

Remade: Completely redesigned humans, tend to be taller, lack hair, slightly large craniums, wider eyes, smaller noses and teeth, and elongated digits. 

Rusters: Adapted for survival with minimum gear in the Martian environment. Complete with insulated skin and better respiratory system. 

Neo-Avians: Bird people basically. Size of a small child typically.

Neo-Hominids: Uplifted chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans. 

Octomorphs: Uplifted octopi. 

Pods: (Pod People) Vat-grown biological bodies with extremely undeveloped brains that are augmented with an implanted computer and cybernetics system. 

Pleasure Pods: Designed purely for intimate entertainment purposes. 

Woker pods: Basic pods that are used in menial labor jobs. 

Synthetic Morphs: AI and robots.

Case: Extremely cheap mass produced robotic shells, intended to provide an affordable remorphing option.

Synth: Anthropomorphic robotic shells, used for menial labor.

Reapers: Common combat bot. 

Infomorphs: Digital only forms, lack physical body. Sometimes carried by other characters. 


A basic template can be anything from just what you'd like your character to be, to a short backstory, and may include a pic base from anything. I will accept anime pic bases and most...semi realistic cartoons (no Ed, Edd, and Eddy or KND please). So, join in, have fun, and see you in slip space.
