Just got done watching TLC and I'm curious to what everyone thought of the matches? I think it was a lot better than expected!

I actually really enjoyed TLC. It hasn't been the first time that I have enjoyed a WWE PPV that other people didn't like but I really did.

Tag Team match was :whew: godly! I freaking adored that match up.

Let's see...from there? Ryback vs. Rusev wasn't going to be a fantastic matchup but it did its part to make Rusev and Lana heels...which is what it was supposed to do. Was probably one of the few matches that I didn't really like watching.

Kevin Owens vs. Ambrose. I really enjoyed that one. Both guys really know who they are as characters and know their way around the ring. Could they have done more in that match then what they had done? Yes, but that's not really saying a whole lot. A good singles match.

Paige vs. Charlotte. Yeah, the only other match I wasn't necessarily a huge fan of but it was something. Whatever. Didn't have high expectations for it.

ADR vs. Jack Swagger. A chairs match sort of sucks...but they were able to make it entertaining. A match that I also really enjoyed watching, even with some obvious spot calls.

Team ECW vs. The Wyatt Family. An ending that I didn't expect, a possible feud in the future with the Wyatt Family going against Rowan possibly, and the reintroduction of the Wyatt's as a genuine threat that are able to stand against a lot of different people. Good match.

Reigns vs. Sheamus. I don't really know why people expect Jesus to appear in this match. It's a TLC. There are actually very limited things that you can do that are new in this match. I personally loved it. Beginning to end, it had me invested in the storyline. It made Roman out to be who he is, a strong superstar. And kept Sheamus as the Heel with a spine. Also...that ending...wow!

All in all, TLC for me was a good way to cap off the year. I will give it a...B+. Good spots, good matches, but a few shoddy jobs here and there.

PostSubject: Re: Thoughts on 2015 WWE TLC?    Thoughts on 2015 WWE TLC? EmptyDecember 14th 2015, 7:16 am

Triple Threat Tag Match: Hot opener with some new and different spots.  I liked that Big E got to do something interesting with the one arm ladder press with the Dragons on top of it, and that Salina Del Sol spot sold a friend of mine on the fact that Kalisto could be the new Rey if WWE so chose to ditch Sin Cara dos and start pushing Kalisto.  Match of the night from an entertainment perspective.  New Day always makes things non-booty, though.

Rusev v. Ryback: Just an ugly big man brawl that wasn't great, but not what I'd call 'bad', just what I expected, which is usually not what you get out of Rusev when he's put in the limelight.  I guess what I'm saying is that Ryback did what I figured Ryback would do, and Rusev disappointingly matched Ryback's style.  Not bad,not good, and on a card full of gimmicks, could've benefited from something to make it pop, even if it were a silly chairs match.

US Title-Swagger vs ADR Chairs Match: Not a classic by any means, but a solid little bout with both guys doing their best with a somewhat silly gimmick match.  I think it's kind of a darkhorse bout, in that it wasn't bad, and probably better than it deserved to be considering the storyline and booking, but it's not an encounter that you're going to remember next Raw, much less next week.

Wyatts vs EV 2.0 Tables: About what I expected, really.  Another 'just there' match on a pretty unremarkable PPV card.  I want to call it 'fun', but I'm not even sure if I can do that.  Wyatt's win, but considering ECW veteran track records against young buck stables on the rise, it's not like they gained any credibility bumping Tommy Dreamer's House of Hardcore laden corpse, and as much as I love Rhyno and the Dudley Boys...yeah, it's not like their track record upon return is much to write home about.  They're there for a reason, and that reason is really moot.

IC Title: Ambrose vs Owens - Good match that, again, could've really been something extraordinary if given a gimmick to play with.  Some of Ambrose's funner matches in the WWE have been overly gimmicked hardcore bouts, and KO's pretty good at wrapping a ladder around his opponents with high intensity offense.  It was a great match, don't get me wrong, but it could've been a showstealer if you gave these boys some toys.  I would've even enjoyed them in a chairs match.  I'm sure both would have busted out some in-ring remarks over how ridiculous the gimmick is while making a chair a part of the other's anatomy.  The title change was a bit desperate to me, which is my only complaint about the match.  It's like they went into TLC realizing they didn't have a title to hop off of someone and went with the less commonly booked belt that would hold less consequence in jumping from it's safe zone.  I mean, New Day's not going to lose.  They're pretty much the show right now.  Charlotte isn't going to lose to keep this Diva's Revolution guise going.  Del Rio isn't going to lose because latino fandom and soup can Swagger.  Sheamus isn't going to lose because they're trying to actually make him seem worthy of the gold.  Why not Owens?  I mumbled a few reasons under my breath, laced with a bit of cursing, but I guess their push the midcard belt motivation has been clouded.  I'm just hoping we don't get another neglected Ambrose run.

Divas Match: I didn't pay attention to it, other than seeing the finish and Charlotte aping her pops in a few awkward spots.  Do you want to know how I know the Revolution's turned Revolting? They still have no idea how to book a likable female protagonist, which is why Charlotte's turning into her old man, Paige is still a bitch who talks ill of the dead, and Becky Lynch has devolved into Raven McCoy of Fox Force 5.  The belt still doesn't matter, and like with the men's current program, all of the writer's favorite action figures have went home with injury or 'personal days'.  They say they want a revolution, well...ya know, we all wanna book like NXT.

TLC Main Event for the WWE Title: Am I the only person who found themselves laughing through the tears during this match? Because everywhere I read, it's getting high marks, and I just don't see it.  I like Sheamus (not as champ, but as a wrestler) and I'm not as hard on Roman as most, but my god they stunk it up.  Not only did they stink it up, but they wrestled like 2k15 A.I.  Sheamus picks up ladder, Sheamus puts down ladder.  Roman takes the cover off of both announce tables.  Roman does nothing with the announce tables during the match.  Sheamus picks up chair.  Sheamus puts down chair.  Etc. Etc. Etc.  Maybe people's perception of what this match was or could have been was way more cynical than my own, but the guys had a bevvy of weapons to cover up their misgivings and they wrestled in slow mo with them all.  I half want to blame Roman, because it's like he came out already blown up, or maybe the crowd took the piss out of him.  Either way, he wrestled like he didn't care.  I even remember seeing points in the early goings of the match
where Sheamus acted frustrated over Reigns sandbagging, and then Sheamus started to follow suit.

Let me be clear in saying that I didn't expect a 5 star classic, but what they delivered, in the match that me and my hyper-pro WWE friend watched was atrocious and deserved the crowd response of Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, NXT, and even Cena chants.  So much so that even Mr. WWE Hype couldn't defend it and started laughing at it.  I think it all boils down to the match needed intensity, the match needed spirit, and the match needed to justify not only ham fisting this feud, but Sheamus, Roman, and the League of Nations with it, and it did none of that.  The only time I saw any life behind Roman's eyes was when he took a running charge to spear Triple H to set up a match that he probably needs, but nobody wants.

I guess I'm just disappointed in one of the once highly touted PPV's of the year turning into just another PPV leading into Royal Rumble.  I get wanting to have precaution with the new batch of main event pushees, and I get psychology and selling a grueling match, but neither account for booking two talents you don't want to get hurt in a traditionally violent match and having them come out and work like they just did 7 hours of cardio before stepping out of Gorilla position.

I agree with Pizza Boy on all fronts. I'm checking the interwebs and everyone is praising Roman. I wasn't feeling it the whole match and the ending wasn't all that exciting. 'Oh he hit trip with a chair a bunch of times' just like he and a few others did this whole year.

I agree with pretty much all of you. The tag team title match stole the show and the main event was a total Roman/Sheamus style of match. If it wasn't for the bumps, it would have sucked. Eventually, Roman will get that World Championship and hopefully the fans are behind him. The ending was pretty awesome and was much needed to continue his build as a baby face.

I was impressed with Ambrose and Owens and even though there wasn't a gimmick or anything, still a very good match. More so because of how talented those guys are. The divas match was kind of blah and let me down a little bit, more so because Paige is boring me. Other than that, the other matches were there and did what I thought. I'm hoping that Owens gets a main event push with the Rumble approaching.

I thought it wasn't that bad.  Not the greatest, but a solid PPV.  I think that the reason why people are gushing so much over it is that it was so much better than the build-up made it seem like it would be.  It wasn't spectacular, but considering the television they had been putting on before it, it was much better than expectations.  I'll disagree with some people on the Reigns/Sheamus match.  Yeah, a few times they looks a little indecisive, but they delivered how they should have: a hard hitting, smash mouth match that looked painful.  That's all I ask when I see those two get in the ring.  Work stiff.  Beat the living hell out of each other.  And they did that quite well, despite the crowd going into business for itself.  I give those guys a lot of credit because they stuck with the game plan and slowly drew the crowd in.  The ending wasn't particularly varied, but it was a fun bit of catharsis.  Any time an authority figure gets the crap kicked out of him, it's fun.  That's part of how Stone Cold got as big as he did.  So they're trying to kindle that same fire in Roman Reigns.  Good for them.

What they need to rehabilitate Roman Reigns as a character is to keep him off the mic.  He has great presence, but his delivery is not getting any better.  Keep his words short and sweet and to the point.  Make him be a taciturn badass like he was in the Shield.  Make him seem more dangerous.  That'll play to his strengths, make it seem more natural, and that, in turn, will get the crowds more invested in him.  The end of the PPV was a step in the right direction.  We'll see if RAW can build on it.

The rest of the PPV was fine.  The ladder match was awesome.  The tables match was decent rehabilitation for the Wyatts.  We'll have to wait and see if they actually continue to build them up, or feed them to Neville and the Miz for god-knows-what-reason.  The women's match was meh.  ADL/Swagger and Flyback/RuRu didn't make me regret watching them.  TAnd Owens/Ambrose was exactly what it should have been: a great match.

Dean Ambrose promised to replace Michael Cole with an aquarium if he won the WWE Heavyweight title.  Since he won the IC title, can we at least get a terrarium?

I agree.  It may not have been the best PPV of the year, but WWE made a lot of smart choices here.  Sheamus looking less like a coward, Rusev and Lana being re-established, Wyatt's dominating, Ambrose winning a title, and Reigns actually looking like a legit badass and less like a Bryan/Cena knock off.

I was too busy counting down the days of NXT Takeover: London. But yeah I was a fan of the opening match, Ambrose vs Owens, and Reigns beating down Triple H. Other than that I think I fell asleep while watching and so happen to catch Ambrose vs Owens when I woke up lol
