| So I'm looking to expand my wrestling horizons beyond WWE. I checked out ROH, and while those guys are tremendous wrestlers, it doesn't seem like they do much in the way of promos and storylines. For me, a good mic worker is half the reason I watch wrestling. What other companies could I watch that have a good mix, and where can I LEGALLY watch them? Preferably for free. I'm cheap. |

| Honestly, it might be TNA. You've got guys brilliant on the mic like Roode, Eric Young (lately), EC3 and sometimes MVP. In the ring you've got pretty much every style covered whether it be guys like Jeff (high flying) , Low Ki/Manik (stunt) , Lashley (power) , Kenny King/EY (showman/storyteller) , Bram (hardcore brawl) or Aries and Roode (combined of all). They've always had a well of potential in their roster. Too bad the people who run that company are so fucking stupid that it doesn't matter how much talent they have in the end. |

| Lucha Underground's great because people who can talk, do talk, and those who can't (whether due to language barrier, aura, or otherwise) tend to stay quiet or speak Spanish when they do talk. First and foremost, Dario Cueto, whom isn't a wrestler but an actual actor, has made the series for a lot of people by simply being a Loki esq. shit stirring sleaze ball with little to no regard as to what's fair, but instead shoots for what entertains him or saves his skin from getting his ass handed to him. He's also not as overbearing as most authority figures in wrestling. He has no real agenda other than to be the chaos making deux ex machina that puts the story in entertaining directions.
Then there's Johnny (Morrison) Mundo, whose really broken out of his shell here, and Alberto El Patron, who just cut one of the most effective and believable babyface promos I've heard in a long time. Konnan's also proven to be a good mouthpiece to the mute champion Prince Puma, as has Catrina for Mil Muertes and Fenix. Even Big Ryck (former Big Zeke) has cut a pretty good vignette backstage here and there. The only drawbacks I can see to Lucha Underground is that if you're not used to lucha psychology, there's a bit of an enjoyment curve. Not only is the work rate a bit contrived by even american wrestling standards and heavy on the spots, but a lot of the storylines are very melodramatic to the point of almost being comic bookie. If you know what Chikara is, Lucha Underground is pretty much that with a Robert Rodriguez cinematic twist.
There's also TNA, but things are kind of shifty right now over there. Ethan Carter III has been an enjoyable asset since arriving and just beat Angle for the title, so I'm sure his sarcastic American Psycho themed character will be taking up a whole lot more TV time for Impact, which is something I'm greatly looking forward to. Other than him, Bobby Roode, James Storm, the newly returned Jeff Jarrett, along with Aries and Drew Galloway if they aren't gone for good are very good on the microphone. Not to mention Angle, MVP, Kenny King (when they let him talk), and Mr. Anderson are all fairly charismatic talkers.
If you're willing to listen to a fairly comedic and entertaining commentary and little else, I'd suggest PWG or Chikara, although Chikara occasionally has talents cut promos pre-match and online. Sidney Bakabella, Eddie Kingston, Chuck Taylor, Jakob Hammermeier and notably good talkers, but the rest range from good to simply riding the camp factor of the company to pull out a good promo, although Ultramantis Black surprises me sometimes.
I can't think of many free ways to watch these things that are technically legal. There is a site called WatchWrestling.ch that streams them all, and wouldn't get you into legal trouble for watching them, but honestly when it comes to something like an independent company, opposed to shows like ROH, TNA, and Lucha Underground that air in places that aren't necessarily accessible to cable providers or areas of the US, I'd say just hit up a local indi HighSpots table and buy some DVDs. The most it'll cost you is 15 bucks and an afternoon. But yeah, I'd feel zero guilt if I were you about streaming ROH, TNA, or Lucha Underground, or even Network programming since they're so intent on giving it away for free every other month. |

| I've been on over Lucha Underground since it debuted last year. If you can get into it, you'll be hooked. Pizza Boy got the show described perfectly.
I think TNA puts on a better weekly show than RAW or Smackdown, but their booking and storylines are just as bad if not worse than WWE's. Also, most of the guys you'd be tuning in for might not even stay with the company. |

There are theories that it's a work to build up to a Global Force invasion, although I don't buy that with Aries since he's a 'free agent' and not going to Jarrett. Not so sure about Magnus and Storm. |

Not so sure about Magnus and Storm. From what I've heard, Magnus is on the GFW roster. Aries seems to be done and I have no idea about James Storm. |
