Might as well just steal this from Squared Circle, so:

For all who don't know, the New Japan Cup is basically NJPW King of the Ring. The winner of the single-elimination, 16-man tournament will receive a shot at either the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, Intercontinental Championship, or the NEVER Openweight Championship (their choice) at the April PPV, Invasion Attack. As such, the three champions will not be participating in this tournament.

This is a multi-day event. All preliminary matches will take place on the March 6th show, quarterfinals on March 8th, and the semi-finals and the finals will be on March 15th.

I predict Okada will eventually beat Styles to get the title back, but I don't think it will be this soon. Tanahashi might win to get his rematch, but I'm going to predict an Ibushi win to get a WK9 rematch with Nakamura. I don't really see the winner challenging for the NEVER Openweight Title tbh that title just doesn't seem as prestigious right now despite Ishii being one of the best in the world.

This first round....bah Gawd! 

Some matches I'm looking forward to with this draw are Tana/Yano, Ibushi/Gallows and Nagata/Gotoh. I find it VERY strange that there is not a Single member of the Suzuki-gun faction involved (Suzuki, TAKA, Taichi, Shelton, Davey Smith Jr, Archer, Desperado).

I would LOVE to see Shibata or Goto win the tournament and challenge AJ for the belt at Invasion Attack.
