| Post your political beliefs and ask questions of the other members about their political beliefs.
I'll start by asking since today is election day in the US what is everyone's opinion on voting? |

| I'm basically leaning towards liberal. Um, I'd say in terms of making a difference, depends. If you're voting in a swing state like Florida, chances are your vote would probably matter more than mine because I live in a highly conservative state. (Texas).
This is a general Q for anyone, should the electoral college be abolished in order for the popular vote? |

| Definite Liberal/Democrat. Go down the line, and I could probably talk politics all day. Not by force/upbringing/demographic (I practically live in the bible belt), but rather I tend to agree with the democrats, ESPECIALLY when it comes to social issues. But by no means will I deny a good republican representative to stay "loyal to the host". Just... there are never any good representatives with 21st century ideas on the right side of things.
As for the question itself, voting is obviously important. Those who say otherwise are either the "cool kids", lazy, and/or have no interest of being informed. Which the latter is okay/more acceptable than the first two, just don't complain about how things are going. If you don't want to have a say, then keep your mouth shut for the next 4/6 years. End of story.
Nah, keep the electoral college. Though, I'm biased in that regard. You look at the map now, and you see the history and the trends of certain states, and they all tend to go Democratic going forward. Democrats basically have the Northeast and the Western states that matter (CA, OR, WA) as automatic votes. That leads to needing only 20-40 more electoral votes. So with that said, ignoring the candidates themselves and who they may be, expect a democratic president in 2018 again. Just look at the map, add up the totals of the NE and those 3 Western states, and you have an almost shoe-in victory. And worst case scenario, all the "toss-up" states go Republican... if no surprises happen in Demos' own states... well, you still have a Demo winner. Morally, I'll admit that's a flaw, how a president is being decided upon geography and not representatives... but well, just how it is right now. And definitely still comes down to the candidate themselves, so I don't want to hear any conspiracy theories regarding this. But I do expect it to be changed down the road, but not now.
No matter your preference (Demo, Rep, Independent), what opposing party opinion do you disagree with most? |

| I prefer to say I'm independent but in practice I'm probably a Democrat and a liberal. I often vote Democratic because I realize the other candidates have little to no chance of winning and by voting for them it makes it easier for the Republican candidates to win. I definitely think voting is important and I plan to vote in every election I can. If people don't vote then it just means they don't care or don't think they can make a difference. I understand that but if everyone thought that then it does make a difference.
I used to dislike the electoral college but I've warmed up to it as probably more fair than just a total popular vote. It simplifies the vote greatly. With re-counts they can target specific states instead of recounting the entire nation's ballots. Also it gives each state a fair say regardless of how many people actually vote. Therefore it's more representative of the people who actually do vote. It does have flaws though so I imagine it will eventually be upgraded or removed for another system.
For the question of what opposing party belief do I agree with the most, I'd probably have to say gun control. I tend to side with the Republicans in that regard. It's not so much that I care about constitutional rights or any of that garbage but its more that I feel it is safer to be armed. If you take away the ability to defend yourself for normal citizens then I feel it gives criminals the advantage.
For my question I'll ask what is your favorite government system or policy from a foreign country that you would like to see implemented in your own? |

| This is a good quiz for politics. http://www.isidewith.com/political-quiz
So I'm basically 89% Democratic. Only thing I side with the Republican Party is Pensions and the redrawing of Congressional districts be controlled by an independent, non-partisan commission. (Like that will ever happen in Texas) |
