WCW: THE BIG BANG

The Big Bang CrkRUky

World Championship Wrestling, once the top wrestling company in the world, has had a not so memorable two years. After the New World Order storyline had grown out of the fan's interest, World Championship Wrestling attempted to recreate the magic that lead to them defeating their rivals in the business, the World Wrestling Federation. However, with the financial status of the company in jeopardy and no up to standard ratings, owner Ted Turner had decided to sell the company in 2000. There were many potential interested buyers that were ready to purchase the once superpower of professional wrestling however two stuck out as the most promising. On one side we had Fusient Media Ventures, along with former WCW Executive Producer Eric Bischoff, and on the other stood rival Vince McMahon and his company the World Wrestling Federation. Should the WWF buy WCW that would most likely mean the end of the Monday Night Wars and thus the end of WCW as we know it. Ted Turner's representatives had different plans for WCW and those plans did not include the company staying on their TV stations at all. Due to this problem, Eric Bischoff and Fusient Media Ventures found no further interest in purchasing the company and withdrew their bid. They felt that without a tv show there is no possible way to aim for success with the company. In March of 2001, everything seemed finalized. Vince McMahon walked around WWF Headquarters with a smile on his face declaring himself the king of the wrestling business after being able to completely defeat and kill his own competition. The price tag that stood on the contract to purchase WCW was much lower than that of what was presented to Bischoff and Fusient Media Ventures. It was $3.5 million US dollars and it was a fairly cheap deal considering everything with a WCW name and logo including libraries and selected contracts came with it. However, everything was about to change on the day (March 23rd, 2001) that WWF representatives and lawyers were about to walk in and sign the deal. A new company had been formed just a week before the deal was going to be signed called WrestleHero Enterprises LLC. This company had secretly negotiated a deal with the owners of WCW and submit a big of 6 million dollars, much higher than that of the WWF. With the WWF in a bit of a struggle of their own with their finances was unable to match this bid when informed of the potential bidding rival. With that being said, WE LLC., had become the new owners of World Championship Wrestling, completely purchasing everything that the company owned.

WHO ARE WRESTLEHERO ENTERPRISES LLC. ?

WrestleHero Enterprises LLC, or WE LLC., for short, is a company owned by long time professional wrestling fan and businessman John E. Baledon. John comes from a rich family that has inherited their wealth from their ancestors. He is also a successful businessman on Wall Street. His love for the wrestling business began as a young kid and he has followed World Championship Wrestling from the days of the NWA. He managed to read rumors about the WWF purchasing WCW somewhere on the internet and it quickly sparked an interest into purchasing the company to keep it going. He does not want his love for professional wrestling to continue to be ruined and has decided to make sure he does something about it. He has opened this wrestling specific company just to be able to purchase WCW and has hired his own staff and lawyers to represent him. Due to not knowing how to run a company himself, one of his employees happens to be Eric Bischoff, the heart of WCW and the man that wasn't able to convince Fusient Media Ventures to purchase WCW. John has decided to make Eric Bischoff the official president of World Championship Wrestling and has decided to give him enough money to continue running WCW. John has however stated to Eric Bischoff that he will interferee with certain decisions if he feels they are not beneficial to the company as a whole. With Eric Bischoff back in power only the sky is the limit both Bischoff and John have stated.

THE OFFICIAL PRESS CONFERENCE – SATURDAY MARCH 24th, 2001
Official notes from the press conference

  • John Baledon was introduced as the owner and Eric Bischoff as the President.
  • Eric Bischoff is happy that he is once again the captain of the ship and will do his best to stop it from sinking. He explained the recent misfortunes and promised to give the fans excitement once again. Most importantly he stated that he is just happy that WCW did not close doors because the company was close to doing that if it wasn't for John Baledon.
  • John Baledon told his story and why he purchased WCW.
  • Eric Bischoff began to answer questions.

    • 1. Will there be any major changes?

      • We are looking to change the company internally as a whole. We are here to revive WCW and there will be many changes, all which we feel are positive and healthy for the company.

    • 2. Are we going to see any releases of current talent? What about new signings?

      • Looking at the current employed talent we feel that there are many talent who are not used and who are not in our plans going forward. There will be a major shake up of the current roster and talent will both be let go, resigned, and new talent will be looked at to potentially sign if a contract agreement can be reached.

    • 3. Hulk Hogan is currently sidelined with an injury? Is he part of your plan considering the big money guaranteed contract that he currently possesses?

      • We are unable to answer that question during this time. We will however address certain contracts in the coming weeks.

    • 4. Currently there are no scheduled WCW programming on TV. Many fans are worried about this situation and are confused about how this will be handled. Can you give us any information on the state of television programming for your company?

        • As of this moment we have not reached a television deal with any network. Due to that very reason, World Championship Wrestling's revival will be a project that we are going to closely and carefully design in the next coming weeks. We can however assure you that during the month of May you are going to once again get to tune in to WCW programming live. Until then you can stay updated with news and information on our web page WCW dot com.

    • 5. Are you able to reveal to us any of your internal and on-air plans with the company for this revival?

      • While I can't reveal everything in detail I can mention certain things. Currently WCW as of the previous ownership has many internal problems to go along with its behind the scenes issues. I am looking to touch back on the cruiserweight division and showcase new talent to the wrestling fans. I believe it is healthy for the business to equally level the playing field to both the known faces and those that should be known in our sport. I can just promise a lot of positive changes and that is all I can really say.

Quote :
This is based on the actual plans that Bischoff had when he was going to purchase the company with Fusient. In this alternate I have Fusient back out like it happened but a random made up businessman who is a fan of the sport contacts Bischoff and they purchase the company. From here I will use some of Bischoff's original plans and also my own and see what I can do. I use TEW 13 for the bookings. This is the back story to it. Bischoff planned on having a break where there wouldn't be shows until the first PPV back, The Big Bang (not gonna use the PPV just the name for the back story). Hopefully people can read this and comment Very Happy

The Big Bang Slambo10

World Championship Wrestling returns from its hiatus under the new ownership on May 6th, 2001 when WCW makes its return live on pay-per-view in an event that will storm WCW into its new era. This event will be the annual Slamboree and will be headlined by the rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship where Booker T will defend the belt against Scott Steiner, the man he beat for the title on the last Nitro to be broadcast on TNN. Eric Bischoff has also announced a battle royal that will crown a new United States Champion (Booker T was stripped of the US title due to being the World Heavyweight Champion). "Sugar" Shane Helms will defend his Cruiserweight championship in a Four-Way Elimination Match as well. Eric Bischoff has promised media that Slamboree is a must see event and there are planned surprises as well that you simply DON'T WANT TO MISS.

WCW.com has published an article with the above image reporting that World Championship Wrestling will be moving its premier show Nitro to Wednesday Nights as they have signed a network contract with Bravo! Both parties are excited about this opportunity with Bravo hoping to expand its audience and WCW hoping for fresh start on a new rising network. The article also confirms that this contract only runs for one season and for one television program but Bravo are looking to expand the deal and possible extra programming should Nitro draw positive ratings. The debut of Wednesday Night Nitro on Bravo will be on May 9th, 2001, just three days after the return of World Championship Wrestling from its short hiatus which will happen live on pay-per-view at Slamboree.

RUMORS AND SPOILERS
- Pulsewrestlenews.com is reporting that a big name is reported to have signed with WCW or will be signing in the next coming days. The name of this superstar has been kept a big secret and there are rumors flying around that it can possibly be a WWF superstar looking to jump ship. While those reports aren't confirmed it is confirmed that this new superstar whoever he may be will be at Slamboree and will be making his debut.

- The contract of Hulk Hogan has remained with AOL and WCW has chosen not to buy it out due to the high price on it. Hulk Hogan, currently sidelined with an injury, will remain to get payed by AOL until that contract runs out and Hogan will officially become a free agent once that is through. Eric Bischoff, who is a close friend of Hulk Hogan, has confirmed for various websites and media that Hulk Hogan, while a big name in the sport and huge draw, is not in the future plans of the company.
